The first night was the only night we ate at the buffet. It was great. The taco el pastor was amazing. We ate at the Italian, Mexican, Italian, and Japenese then 2 nights in Playa. Here is us the first night on our way to the buffet and having drinks in the lobby bar.

Here is one of the hallways outside the main buffet. The Tucan side is marble floors and the Quetzel side is like a wooden boardwalk. The Quetzel buffet is actually closed for renovations so Quetzel side guests eat at the Tucan side. Essentially they are exactly alike.

First full day on the beach, and it looks like it is going to rain.

We made the best of it and sat beside the bar under the palapa. We met Anderson from the Star Friends. It only ended up raining for about 15 minutes, then it cleared up and the sun came out.

Here is a pic of the beach bar. It also has self serve fountain pop on the other side.

Looking north towards Riu

Crazy beach games with the Star Friends. The entertainment team were very good. They would try to get you to play games and have fun. If you just felt like chillaxing, they would let you be. Always something going on though from 10am-till zumba on the beach at 4pm. After that they took a break until the show at night.

South end of beach

Adult only pool bar is separate from the main pool. the water is quite a bit cooler than main pool but still quite refreshing. Funny, they have a hooka on top of the bar now that you can use. You can choose your flavours, such as pineapple, coconut tabacco and they give you the mouth piece. We did not indulge. Also at theater, there are a few as well.

Thanks for the TR. I'm really enjoying it so far. That sky and the beach are incredible! I'm in the wrong place today.

Qu

First time I saw a stray dog on a resort. They're usually all over Playa, but here is a beaut on the south end of the beach. I tried to call him over, but as soon as he saw the security guard, he took off.

Pool shots..

Pool aerobics are everyday at 11am. Yoga at the SF clubhouse is at 1030am everyday as well.

Water polo pool and scuba certification pool. They still did a lot of pool games in main pool in beach end. The dept of the main pool except the beach area walk in, is about 5 ft-3 inches. It was almost over my head and over my daughters'.

All the pool chairs have been replaced since I was here last a few years ago. They are really comfortable, and you can lay completely flat or adjust your legs so they are flexed. A nice change. Always so many available, no need to get out at 6am and reserve them. Also, there is now a guest relations desk right beside the beach entrance of pool, where you can make all your restaurant reservations. No more waiting in line only a few hours a day. they are there all day, at the pool and in the lobby.

In front of the scuba hut near the Quetzel side.

Random bride and groom from Riu area walking down to the rocks past the Sandos. Pretty funny, but I don't think she realized she was showing her "bathing suit" she wore under her dress.

Awesome nachos, with what we Canadian hockey parents call, "arena cheese"!! These were a nice treat before our dinner at 830pm.

Lobby time with Star Friends before our Japenese dinner. I don't have pics of that, but it was the only dinner we were not very impressed with. We were really looking forward to the show cooking, but maybe it was end of the night for the chef, but he hardly did anything. It looked like they were all tired and really didn't want to be there. We were disappointed with the service here.

Beach bar...was hard to get Jose Cuervo here. Easier years earlier.

Now, I have to go to bed and finish up later...I've been on vacation for 3 weeks from the hospital and have the early shift tomorrow. I only hope I remember what to do and not start ordering cervasas in our cafeteria.

That's so awesome...I was hoping I wasn't putting up too many pictures. I don't want to bore anyone. I know before I go away I LOVE looking at new trip reports and pictures. More to come soon.

We stayed in building 11 and in between the buildings you can also pick it up.
Hi and thanks for your reply.
You have posted some great photos and I am now even more looking forward to our trip. It can't come soon enough!!
Any suggestions for a good room close to the beach?
David

Building 10 is the ocean front rooms. Building 11, 12, and 13 are close to beach. Email them ahead of time, but they'll just email you back saying they can't promise anything.
