Yes, you need to do your report! I will do Isla after I finish the Playa section. PA confirmed what I already knew...I hate AIs. I loved Isla, but I'm not in any real hurry to go back. I tried to convince my husband to skip Playa this year and just take one longer/pricier vacation(I wanted to go to Barcelona), but he vetoed me as he would prefer two less expensive trips.

Lucky. We still had no power on day 2, and still no shower water on day 3. I was very thankful for the shower at Wah Wah!

Other than the "prison" room and the water problem, the place is great. I am going to find out if the water problem is fixed and then book a room there. Did you see their cat on the property? She's so cute. Olivia is her name. I've been going to this place twice a year for 10 years.

I made sure to pet Olivia every time I passed by.

And yes, besides the one weird room and water issues, the place and the staff were very nice. I think the thing for me was realizing that spending money for the extras (like pretty grounds, included breakfast and a pool) just isn't worth it to me, because I won't take advantage of those amenities.

Wendy, did you have the included continental breakfast at the Mayan Bistro? I thought it was very good and plenty of food.

Did you have any meals there?

DAMN, you take great food pics!

Too bad about the room! It looks like it could be really cool with a redo, and the grounds look really nice.

It sucks to "make do" on vacation unless that's your plan in the first place.

Oh! and congrats on the bar! and the new avatar is awesome!

Sorry. You may continue.

We aren't big breakfast people, so we only tried it once the first day. They had fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, and wheat bread.

I really wanted to go back for dinner because it smelled amazing, but we just ran out of time.

Thank you...on everything!!

I do think they could do great things with that room, and it does seem like they are in the process. Even just some paint and white curtains would go far in opening up the space.

I can't wait to read your review for "El Diablo" (PA) Will be nice to read a real review about the place. Laura and I were sitting at Jax the day they had the big ground breaking ceremony for the place. One of the worst moments in all my years going to Isla because I knew what it would mean.

Great food pics as usual. We are also sorry to hear about the stay at the AM. We were on the bottom floor by the pool and everything was fine on our stay. Betty has said thats about as plain as she wanted to go though. Nothing fancy for sure. We would stay there again, but probably won't with so many places to stay.

Enjoyed spending some time with you guys at Fah, Luna Blue, etc....we went to Umma Gumma twice (once with u guys) closed both times. Bummer as we would have made a better effort to get there if we knew it was over soon. We've been known to bring down the house doing karaoke.

I'm so sorry about the room. They had been on my list of possible hotels, but I'm not sure now. Plus we've rented a condo for February so if that goes well I'll think we'll stick with that route.

The food pics are amazing. I'm writing down most of the places we haven't tried yet and what looks the best - lol - becuase less than 60 days means planning time.

Can't wait to read more AND hear about Isla.

I am just now reading your TR and I'm so sorry your hotel wasn't close to what you wanted. By the looks of the photos, and all that was going on, I would not have stayed there. I am just so sorry. You guys are so chill, you totally go with the flow and for you to "complain" speaks volumes.

Now on tho the rest of the TR, I just had to comment as I was reading

The same room Rissask stayed in it looks like. I just booked a junior suite at AM for March. Its the first time my wife and I will be traveling without our daughter so we will be staying in a hotel instead of a 2 bedroom condo. This will be the first time we have stayed in a hotel instead of a condo anywhere in Mexico. I have this feeling we will put in the same room because we booked through Expedia. As long as we have power and water and a real door it should be okay.

Anyway the food pics are awesome, DSLR or not. And I can't help noticing that you look very much like one of my nieces. Her father is Metis (a distinctively Canadian people who are the descendants of French fur traders who married Native American women) but looks like a full blooded Native American. I have never seen really seen anyone else who looks quite like her.
