I don't have much nice to say about PA, but its pretty much the exact opposite of our issues at AM...great room (with possibly the worst view ever), but awful service and food.

Enjoyed spending some time with you guys at Fah, Luna Blue, etc....we went to Umma Gumma twice (once with u guys) closed both times. Bummer as we would have made a better effort to get there if we knew it was over soon. We've been known to bring down the house doing karaoke.
It was great meeting you guys! Bummer that Umma Gumma was closed both times. Halloween night drew a pretty big crowd and there was some impromptu karaoke that Saturday night as well.

Its true, there are so many places to stay in Playa, I don't imagine we will have any need to repeat any time soon.

The food pics are amazing. I'm writing down most of the places we haven't tried yet and what looks the best - lol - becuase less than 60 days means planning time.

Can't wait to read more AND hear about Isla.
I wouldn't rule them out based on my experience, I would just make sure to confirm a ground floor room...but I personally have preferred the condo experience.

I try not to complain too much in my trip reports because I don't expect everything to be perfect, but I dunno, I just couldn't get past that room.

This will be the first time we have stayed in a hotel instead of a condo anywhere in Mexico. I have this feeling we will put in the same room because we booked through Expedia. As long as we have power and water and a real door it should be okay.

Anyway the food pics are awesome, DSLR or not. And I can't help noticing that you look very much like one of my nieces. Her father is Metis (a distinctively Canadian people who are the descendants of French fur traders who married Native American women) but looks like a full blooded Native American. I have never seen really seen anyone else who looks quite like her.
Yes, it was the same room. I started laughing immediately when I saw it remembering Rissack's comment about possibly being punished for booking through a 3rd party site.

I don't know that my profile picture is remotely accurate to how I actually look (my 14 year old took it on her phone and Im sure it had a billion filters on it), but thats actually really interesting. I am often asked about my ethnicity because of the shape of my eyes. I was adopted so, I don't know my background, but I have heard comments about them looking native american or asian. So, I googled Metis people (as I was unfamiliar with them) and I'm seeing a lot of images of people with my exact eye shape. Hmmm.

Some beach pictures…

This was probably the nicest I have ever seen the water and beach look in Playa between the piers. In August we left just as seaweed infestation was starting and I think it left right before we arrived again. There was never any murk or funk in the water. Even Fusion had a good bit of actually sand in front, not just rock.

Daytime ones are likely from either Wah Wah or Fusion. Night shots are from either Bad Boys of Wah Wah.

Great reporting and beautiful food pictures. Thanks!

We are at AM in 1401 right next to the restaurant (the Honeymoon Suite) right now..we leave tomorrow...we had no problems with water or pool temp. The rooms was clean, cool and everything worked fine. Well, okay, we had to have the refrigerator changed out due to noise, but they did that quickly.

We did find the service at the restaurant pretty lacking (not much going on there in terms of business) and the general attitude of the staff okay, just not outgoing or excellent service like we have seen at many other places here. The food was...okay.

The basic free breakfast is fine with scrambled eggs, fruit, yogurt, toast, coffee etc. but when one can get reasonably priced breakfasts that are wonderful at Imprevist or La Cueva del Chango, well, we didn't often eat at the hotel.

I used a Canon s110. I usually don't do much in the way of editing any of my pictures except some of the low light food pictures, but I had to use a minor enhance feature on all of my pictures with this camera. I also had to fix a lot of horizon lines because I am not used to looking at a screen which was pretty annoying.
