Feb 8 through 15

Hi all, I see we have all kinda made a notation of when we will be in Playa over Feb. Is anyone planning anything for the week we are in Playa.

We arrive late on the 8th, so planning a quiet rooftop beverage and then bed after a long travel day from Western Canada, but our fun faces will be on everyday after that.

We are off to do a Coba,Cenote,Beach,Happy Hour tour on Wednesday and perhaps the Comedy Show at Luciano's on Weds Night!

Cheers

We are kind of playing this trip rather loosely this year. Have a trip to Ek Balam on the wish list but nothing is set in stone as for a date. Also want to hook up with Angelo and Abril of Ummagumma fame to pick up where we left off last year. Only other thing planned is a trip down Tulum way to check out some of the rentals near the biosphere and to get a massage from Margo for my wife.

I loved Ek Balam, it is an easy day trip to do Ek Balam and Valladolid.

I loved it, Ek Balam is small and beautiful. I enjoyed the small city. Just off the Central Park to the left, if you are looking at the Chathedral there is a museum with great stuff in it. Also there were pictures of an orange Church where an old Hacienda was on posters in the museum on the first floor, I wandered over to the information desk. I asked where it was and off I went, very old but beautiful in a small town not too far from Valladolid. It was a beautiful day and I was back for dinner.

Also there was another neat smaller museum with small replicas and information on the Mayan and Olmec People, just behind the Museum, the fellow who helped me with the finding of the church mentioned it.

As with many cities in the Yucatan the main Centro (park) has free wireless as well so one can check maps etc.

I am trying to upload a couple a photos…..not sure if I am savvy enough

If it works number one is of the Church in Valladolid, number two is of a museum mural and I will try again for the orange church. It really is spectacular

Apparently with two pictures I have reached my max. If I can figure out how to just copy the pictures from my album here I will put one up of the Orange Church. It is so huge with all of the historical Hacienda Identifying structures n walls around it is really something.

I am a Ruin and Hacienda Buff so loved it.

Also on the way out of town there was a little Sol Store so I stopped and picked up a lil something to go with my lunch. Once I was out of the area in a nice spot I stopped and enjoyed my Salbutes, which I grabbed off the square in Valladolid n my Sol before heading back to where I started.

Thank you!!! So glad I was directed to the forum. I have spent 4 months on the tripadvisor forum with very slow progress on my research. I have a feeling I will learn more about Playa Del Carmen in 1 week on this forum.
