Heads up Cancun, Curtis and Ashley have been the owners and the ones whom have build VLB. We have not stayed there personally, just know that we met them more than 8-10 years ago. Saw how they built their beautiful place over the years.

awesome report...

We stayed at PA last April and loved the service we got from everyone who works there. Love your photos of PA and around Isla & it just makes us want to be there now. We have 2 weeks booked for the end of March/ April and are looking forward to relaxing on the beach sipping on a few cervesas & margaritas.

After another look at this post, I've realized that Laura and I first met Curtis and Ashley 15 years ago. Wow, just makes one realized where the time goes. My bad Curtis and Ashley. Very nice folks, plus they have a beautiful place to stay.

Looking forward to the rest!
I see you're heading to the Royal in a couple months - hope to see a TR from that trip also.

You'd better! Your trip is just a couple of months before mine, and I'll be itching for all of the decadent details!

We woke up later than usual the next morning and realized it was going to be a cloudy day so we decided to keep the golf cart a bit longer. I had read about the restaurant at Punta Sur (Acantilado) so we drove down there for some sightseeing and lunch. The views were great but the restaurant was awful. The food was bland and the service was painfully slow. It started to rain so we put the camera up but had fun checking out a few scenic overpasses on the way back to the resort.

Love this picture, no filters or editing, just a cheap wide angle lens and a decent p&s:

We weren’t ready to go back but the rain and wind were making it not fun to drive so we parked the cart near the resort and went Jax right across the street. They had delicious margaritas and ice cold buckets of beer for 100 pesos so we relaxed and watched football. We could have walked across the street for dinner but when I saw French onion soup and chicken fried steak on the menu I couldn’t resist. We shared an order of both and I have to say, it wasn’t the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had but it was really really good.

I requested the gravy on the side since I wasn’t sure how good it would be but I could tell it was homemade and done properly.

After way too many cervezas we stumbled back to the room and looked at the stars from our patio loungers, another great day in paradise.

We woke up early since today was our last full day in paradise. We considered going to the resort buffet but both agreed we wanted Lola Valentina one more time. Doug is a creature of habit and got the jalapeno popper scramble again but I opted for the blueberry pancakes with toasted pumpkin seeds w/bacon. It was enough to feed 2 or 3 adults, I couldn’t stop eating them. After breakfast we shopped for a bit and walked down to Bally Hoo. I was tempted to order fish tacos since they are famous for them but I was still way too full from pancakes so we went back to the PA beach to relax.

Some pictures from walking around:

After walking some of the breakfast off we realized that most of the large and obnoxious wedding party had checked out that morning so we decided to spend our last day enjoying the beach and pool. We had a late lunch at Café Del Mar and decided we’d go out for dinner since we were tired of the resort food. We went to a cute little place called Mamacita’s located on Hidalgo. The food was good but the portions were tiny, I spent $14 USD on shrimp fajitas and got maybe two fajitas. The margaritas were just meh so we probably wouldn’t return.

After dinner we had a few drinks with some people we met at PA then called it a night. We had to check out and get to the ferry by 11:30 so we didn’t do much on our last morning besides fit in one more lunch. We went to a place called Compadres, right across from Rolandi’s on Hidalgo. The pictures aren’t great but the food was delicious, we’d definitely go there again:

I might not do a full/detailed trip report but I will, at the very least, post tons of pictures when we get back from our April RPDC trip. My sister and her gf along with their best friend and his gf will be joining us. My sister has been to Mexico once and dating someone that refused to get into the pool and ocean so they spent the entire time doing expensive excursions. Not to mention she stayed at a really low end AI in Cancun so she has no idea what she's in store for! She takes more pictures than I do so we should have a ton to post when we get back.

I'm so stinking excited!
