Shore fishing sucks.
If you go out on a boat, equipment will be provided.

When you get to Playa, go down to the beach next to El Taj condo complex at 14th street and the beach. You will find the fisherman there. Make a deal with them to go trolling, deep sea fishing, etc.....

fishing

Hi Dave most definitely take your spinning and flyfishing gear!!. 30lb braid or 15lb mono for spinning, wf 7-8 floater for the fly , Take some poppers, rapalas,Berkeley sandeels, for spinning - I prefer to flyfish but some days it will be to winday!! and spinning is the order of the day, Flies -clousers, decievers, crazy Charlie's, ect. Get youself a couple of sabiki rigs for getting fresh sprats from the surf right at your feet. Size 2-4 heavy bait hooks and a few weights and a couple of floats . I see your from Wales (I,m Scottish) if your a bass or shore fisherman then your sorted!! Your main target will be the big snook or grande rabalo as the locals call them, with a chance of barracuda small jacks and an odd bonefish, that patrol the shore close in!! early mornings (dawn) and evenings into the dark (head torch) are best as the beach gets very busy during the day. Take a taxi to playcar public beach 70-90pesos and go to your right and you can fish all the way down in front of the private condos and the all inc resorts. The area from the alegro to sandos which is the last resort is really good. Remember to fish early morning and evenings to avoid the crowds and stay away from people having a funtime in the surf . the beaches are all public so you can fish anywhere but respect for bathers and a bit of curtesy goes along way. There are a few more entrance's to the beach further down at the fisherman's resort ect ,, check out google maps if you walk south to the end of the all inc (sandos) you have miles of empty beach to yourself. There is i hear some decent fishing at the north end of playa from mamitas beach club fishing north. Don't!! do the boat fishing trips ripoff!! unless your loaded and don't mind the $250+tips if you find someone to share the cost then its OK but check what catches are coming in on the fishing boats at the bottom of 12th in front of el,taj as jackattack suggested. Enjoy!! I arrive 1st April for 5 wks whoop, whoop. Feel free to Pm me for any further info. Dave
