I sat at Wah Wah most of the afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to see absolutely none the best that I've seen this year!

Did they figure out a solution to the problem in the last couple weeks or did the wind just shift? All webcams look phenomenal of late. Hoping that plan that the Mexican navy had is paying dividends and its not just the wind.

A solution to the problem? That's funny!
Just such a huge phenomenon on a level not seen before that I know of. There were still a lot of large patches just off shore a few weeks ago, but the water color was much improved. Time is the only real solution...

I would say more likely a change in the wind and direction of the current.

We are back in February 2016. Hoping the issue is improved, but I guess we won't know until we actually are there!

I wouldn't consider that a solution to the problem because the sargassum is still present. But it is the reason it's impossible to know what each day will bring until it does subside...

We were there in March, July, and a couple weeks ago and the situation has been improving. Still large patches but the water color is much improved most days!

Been at the Barcelo since Saturday. No sargassum until the wind came up this afternoon. Quite a pile of it this aft. Here it does get cleaned up pretty quickly.

We have spent the past 6 days on Mexico's Caribbean coast, south of Playa a few hours. We were told by the owners of the small hotels we were at that the situation has improved quite a bit. I'll be honest though, if I had paid for flyingdown from the US instead of driving over from Merida, I would have been very upset and would probably not return. The beach can get cleaned but the crap is still in the water.
