How about now?

Anyone there now give me an idea as to how as the sargassum is in north Playa? Arriving Monday with my daughter and am curious as what to expect, and how is the clean up going? I haven't seen anyone on the webcams so I'm curious how the beach is up near Mamitas? Thanks!

There were just small piles, maybe 3 feet in diameter, every few yards or so early this morning, awaiting pickup.

How is the sargassum these days ? Would also like to know about beach erosion.

Seems like this webcam has been frozen for at least a few weeks now. Missing my daily fix. The webcam at El Taj hasn't been working either.

We flew back to the US on Sunday after 2 weeks in PDC. Not many beach days due to the rainy weather but both Playacar and Xpu Ha were awesome. Plenty of sargassum in Tulum. Irma caused some rain on Saturday and I saw on FB that there were some nice waves on Sunday. Not sure if Irma will bring in more sargassum or clear it out. I imagine the Sargasso Sea got quite stirred up last week...

the amount you see in the water was the amount on the beach. not much at all. and honestly, wouldn't you prefer it to be on the beach vs in the water???

crystal clear water is what i care most about. once the seaweed hits the beach any smell it has fades quickly IMO.

The beach this morning (I was by the main ferry terminal), was a pretty as it ever gets. There was ZERO sargassum north and south of there. The beach/sand was clean and clear of any sargassum, almost white in the sunlight. The water was totally clear and calm. Just beautiful.....it doesn't get any better. Plus, the beaches appear to be wider than they have been lately. I think that we have Irma to thank for some of this. The last several days big waves for Playa. Surf was up! Seems to have cleaned the beach up
With that said, I am heading to Fort Lauderdale then Boca Raton at 5pm today.
