Trippen to Playa 'N Maya (not to be confused with Playa Maya)

Back for more in May 2015. A fun 9 day 8 night trip that was too quick and oh so much fun. Had new food, made new friends, and saw many old ones as well. So, lets get this thing started!

This dude had the worst BO in a 5 county region and sat right in front of me. I think he's holding his own nose! PeeeU.

Yes, we had a little puppy dog in front of us yelping for 10 minutes at take off and landing, and I had a baby behind me crying all the way from Tulsa to Dallas!!!

Had a layover for a couple hours and I needed beer and food to calm my nerves!

The screaming babies continued to Cancun from DFW, and we were also 2.5 hours late because of rain/late co pilot/sick couple who decided to get off the plane and cause another 30 minute delay. Ugh! Last ADO bus had left as we got in at 10:30pm. Crap! Found a guy with a van doing nothing and talked him down to $65. Off we go to Playa!

Its our hotel, and its almost midnight and this girl wants tacos!

We were only 5 or so blocks away from Don Sirloin and Betty's favorite salsa, so off we went!

Al Pastor tacos for her of course!! I have to do some sirloin too!

Its now around 1:30am and I had gotten up for work that Saturday at 2am, so 24 hours is about all this old fart can handle. We walked down to 5th and then up to the hotel and called it a night. Wasn't quite how we had planned our first saturday night in Playa, but you make do. We will check out the hotel, and head to Wah Wah Sunday morning for a long day on the beach!!!

Wasn't really planning on doing one, but my goodness, we haven't had any new ones in so long I decided it must be done. I take less and less pics I believe as the days go along, but we shall see!

Well we have a great nights sleep and walk down to try the free breakfast that comes daily with our stay. Never expect much at these boutiques, but they had 3 choices and all were delish! We did omelets first morning. YUM!

Soho is a great little place. Modern, and the pool area is really nice on the roof.
Waterfall in reception area and breakfast area....

Here is a little trick the wife does. You NEVER have enough hangers in any closet here in Playa....especially when you bring as much ^&$( as we do!!! Betty brings those shower curtain rod thingy's that hold the curtain up. They work perfect for all our tanks and light tops, etc etc....and take up hardly any luggage space and the oh so valuable weight, lol.

The room is cool and the AC is freezing!! Woohoo!!! Guess what? I NEVER turned the tv on the whole trip. Well, wait, I did turn it on once about 3 days into the trip, and I immediately hit some ^&$(#(%$ button that jacked the whole biotch up, so I tried to fix it for 10 minutes and decided to not even call down stairs. The wife was pretty proud of me I must say!

On to what we came here for! Its 10am and time to get my drink on at Wah Wah's beach bar!!!!

Sure enough our favorite beach waiter was ready for us! Roberto (AKA Robert De Niro) With Betty Boop! Her nickname by him is BettyBettyGood. Best nickname for her ever!

I enjoyed the Mexican buffet for $130 pesos I believe. It was pretty good. Betty is in love with the grilled chicken sammy from Wah Wah's. Can't blame her!

I will say, the beach and water really sucked that first Sunday, but got much better by midweek and the next weekend. It was scary those first few days. It does come and go...here and there. Oh well. F it.

Well, we spent the day at Wah Wah's till at least 6-7pm. We were lucky enough to meet up with a couple we had not seen since a trip advisor meet up back in 2007 or 08. Our paths finally crossed again and they came out to Wah Wah's around 3pm and spent the rest of the day with us. Food, I think I had 3 buckets of beer, and tequila shots of course! Lots of agua. The total with tip was $1,540 I think, lol. I always go big that first day and scare myself into slowing down on my spending! 7+ hours of sun and no burn really....I never peeled this trip even 2 weeks later. We have added cocoa to our diet and we are believers in its ability to guard against the sun and burns. We will talk about that later!

Well, I think we went back to Soho and took a little siesta! Days are already running together and its only been 2 weeks or so since we left. I believe we had dinner that night with Marita and David (whom we spent the day with at wahwah's) at the one and only!

Can't remember what we did next but it probably had to do with tequila ice cream!!!!

Well we had a long day and said our goodbye's to our friends and decided to last minute check out Luna Blue's bar and see if they were even open as we figured they would not be. To our surprise they were, and we took our customary seats on the swings and had a few cold ones and met a few new peeps. There were 8-10 people there which we figured was a great crowd on a pretty late sunday evening. Guess I didn't take any pics, but the place looks good. Different, but nice to be back.

Soho is just a block south of Luna and we head back, but of course Betty has to stop at Osso for her nightly, and I do mean end of the night treat that she gives herself EVERY night we are in Playa.

They are darn good, and I get one every time too, so I'm not complaining!
Day 1 is in the books. All that sun and old age took its toll, and we head home around 11pm. Great day in Paradise! Hot and humid everyday!

Amazing idea with the shower curtain rings, I love it! I always pack hangers and they take up so much room - thanks for the tip! Also, where are those tacos from, they look awesome. Loving the trip report; can't wait to hear more, and about the cocoa diet - I'm intrigued

I thought it may be, but I wasn't positive! We've been to Playa once and went there and it was my favorite restaurant. It's been four years and I still crave their bean soup

Thanks for the report!

One of these works great when traveling too- for tanks, scarves, light cover-ups, pareos.
