We've nicked Tim "Mr Smooth" , along with "Big Shot Bob" Horry, Bruce "In your Shoes" Bowen, Tony "Jason who?" Parker, Kevin "B...M..F..." Willis ( Pulp Fiction reference), Devin "Dead eye " Brown, and the Argentinian Jordan that needs no nickname other than "Manu" Ginobli (he WILL dominate next year) |

I'm sure you'll forgive my ignorance, Scotty & Kinz, but you'll have to make allowances for the fact that I'm a Canadian. We're talking basketball here, right? Like that game where long people (most of whom have real good tans) in short pants, bounce a ball around? Like, I mean real lofty people, who get even taller when they stand on their wallets? I just wanted to make sure I was singing on the same page. You'll understand my confusion. Up here, we don't consider it sport unless you get to carry a club to hit the other guy with. Those basketball dudes got way too many teeth too. I watched a basketball game once. I think what you need is a Zamboni to clean up that sweat they're dripping all over the place, instead of all those guys with towels. And in a hockey game they have the decency to put all the players in a box so you can't see them spitting and scratching, instead of planting them next to the court, where they sit on cold steel chairs and look out between their own knees. That can't possibly be comfortable, and I'll bet hemorrhoids are the most widespread physical complaint in the NBA.

Too hard to stay out of this one. It's only been one game.
The first game was a stinker from both teams. The Spurs did not blow out the Lakers in the 4th, the Lakers handed them the ball every chance they got in the 4th. If I were a Spurs fan I'd be worried, because the 1st game should have been a blow out and it wasn't. The last 3 Lakers championships, the opposing Western Division teams have allowed the Lakers to stay in the series. You know what happened in each of those series. Let's see what happens tomorrow night. |

Yeah, I agree, that was the worst game the Spurs played in their 16 game winning streak... and they one by ten??? But other than that, a bunch of old men with no bench backup don't sceer us !!! I predict Parker will teach Payton how to say "retirement" in French by the end of the series ! Gotta give credit where credit is due though...Ya'll do have much sweeter cheerleaders . ![]() |

For the Lakers to stand a chance, the following needs to happen:
Shaq hits at least 40% of his free throws. Karl has to play like he did 10 years ago. Payton needs to worry more about his defense, than his offense. and Kobe needs to spend game day in court in Colorado, so he'll prepared for the game that night and plays like it is the last game of his career. |

Kobe's last game against Sacramento, anyone remember, refused to shoot in the first half, he said he wasn't open. I'm guessing Phil told him to stay within the offense, and he wanted to prove a point. Phil - How many players have publicly pissed off Phil, "The Worm", no. Kobe, yes. Whose contracts are up at the end of this season? Phil and Kobe. Which one is getting resigned? Kobe and Shaq were together for 3 years before Phil, and they couldn't get to the finals. Phil and Kobe publicly don't get along, wonder what the huddles are like. Kobe thinks he's more important than Shaq, this may be the first year that is true, but not the last seven. First game of the playoffs against the Spurs, who forgot about his teammates in the 4th quarter? Answer: Kobe. San Antonio can't afford Kobe. Who's got the deepest pockets in the NBA, that's who's getting Kobe (Dallas?). He may be doing 20 to life midway thru next season. Spurs need a center not Kobe. I don't think you want Kobe. If the Lakers can find a swingman, Phil stays and Kobe is gone next year. Not sure that will happen, the Lakers don't have Jerry West anymore either. After all is said and done, can you believe the parity of the 4 teams in the Western conference semi-finals? Anyone of them should woop on the Eastern conference winner. |

Okay, okay, okay...as I recall, this started out as a relatively innocent comment about Preparation H, slipped into Ben Gay, and from there has either deteriorated or elevated itself into a learned discussion on James Naismith's invention, leaning largely to jock straps, or jock itch, or penalty minutes, or field goals, or some such testosterone-driven subject matter. I believe we may have set a new standard in thread warping. This puppy has been, altered, folded, spindled, mutilated, twisted, bowed, buckled, veered, swerved, flexed, contorted, looped, bent, and curved beyond any hope of recognition or recovery.
Congratulations, guys!! |

Uhhhhh Denisea.... James said "Keep it clean....mostly", he didn't lay down any rules about sticking to the original thread subject... so therefore, going from Ben-Gay to basketball is perfectly legal.... would you prefer instead that we jam the General Topics with ???'s like " Are there any good restaurants in Playa" ??? .... we can do that , you know we can !!! ![]() |
