You can generally run at about 10% over the posted speed without attracting the unwelcome attention of the men with the shiny bottons.

So, where it's posted at 100 kph, I usually set the cruise control at 110-112, or thereabouts. Might seem a bit panty-waist to some, but I'm no speed merchant. Been driving over 40 years and I've only had one speeding ticket, and that was in town. Besides, I'm a retired old fart and I've got a long time to get anywhere I want to go. Plan ahead, leave a little earlier, take your time, and relax, works OK for us.

By the by, you won't be making anywhere near the time in the mountains as you do on the prairie, so consider that in your average speed considerations. The TransCanada is double tracked across 80% of Manitoba, probably about 50% of Saskatchewan, most of Alberta - or maybe all now, and a lot of the non-vertical parts of BC, so that really helps.
