Contact Laura at CoCo's, maybe she knows someone who can help. He, or she, is adorable! Maybe Sue and Rick know someone, I know there are other pet loves on the list, post a new thread and ask. I would do it ...but I'm in Virginia, lol!!

Sorry I missed this, we actually rehomed the kitten with Nick from the Western Caribbean Fly Fishing School. He and his wife have two poodles, and during our trip we became good friends with them. It's actually perfect, we get photo and video updates and are able to send down kitty presents with the kids when family goes down. He's wearing his glow in the dark shirt so they can find him at night in the backyard here and with the poodles who I hear tolerate him We are incredibly lucky to have found such a great place for him, he's been renamed Gato !!

The end of our trip took place at Paradisus la Esmeralda. I booked this all-inclusive really early and got a really good deal. When my husband got an eye of it, he had me add an additional two days bringing us to 6 days here.

The arrival at the resort wasn't flawless. In our reservation it guaranteed a room upgrade at check in, i had it printed out highlighted, and spoke with melia about it they said it would be no problem. Unfortunately it was a problem and even when I gave up on the upgrade it delayed us getting to our room by over an hour. That was disappointing.

We got to our basic room and were not disappointed all the rooms are really pretty, one flaw for sure is there is no lock on the bathroom, the toilet, or the shower. There is literally not one private place in the entire room so that was a bit disconcerting.

On a plus we had a private concierge assigned to us, she brought the kids candy, got them robes and backpacks full of goodies, and a phone to call with requests. All of our dinner reservations were set up and our adult night out was planned with no work on our part.

The kids loved the open bathroom design of course

There was one thing they were the most excited about, the water obstacle course. This is on the main pool which can be rowdy, we found it to be exactly right for our family. A lot of the swim up rooms bordered this obstacle course and there were some people unhappy with the noise.

In the kids club they had mini mani/pedi stations set up for kids I let my daughter do this twice and while she thinks shes too cool now for some stuff she loved this .

She and I loved the dressy dinner vibe, and embraced it I wouldn't say the boys loved it but they just could care less.

Walt and I had a second anniversary dinner together I wore my other opal set from mahahual

the kids were pretty tickled by the grounds

There were some pretty cool shows that happened nightly , and the food was pretty good. In my opinion it looked better than it tasted and the sushi restaurants flavor was somehow wrong. I know some people really disagree with me.

During our night out Walter and Giselle stayed in the kids club, Walter loved the computers and video games , and the kids club was having a talent show, Giselle ended up helping all these little girls with their routines from all across the world. She had so much fun helping them which was good there was the most adorable little russian girl who did dance. Giselle did a tumbling routine somehow on the tiny mats They mixed up the date of our anniversary a couple nights earlier and we returned to this Walter was so so excited....

All in all it was a nice resort, I know the kids would love to return for a couple days just for the obstacle course, but we missed Mahahual after a few days and wouldn't do 6 days again. Maybe we aren't fussy, but we find plenty to do there, and we like the real food vs the beautiful food that doesn't taste as good. Lesson learned!

We did a beach photo session here and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made, we got some incredible shots, and I'm going to find a way to do this every year if possible

Some random Pics I found after finishing this report

How Lil' Walt travels when the seat next to him is unoccupied. The bear was named Bubba Gum B at build a bear a couple years ago.

Pizza Papi in the casitas, the painting is fairly new, lots of white to go with their black lights.

Giselle with some small lobster outside nohoch

Me trying duck face with the kids we all ended up with hats like this

Tuna sashimi from ibiza sunset, too much soy sauce for me but still yummy!

Walt and lil Walt coming back from paddling out to the reef , I did this with Giselle a few times as well.

Me on a chair at Evans in the water, these aren't actually his chairs, but the neighbor has them and I beg Walt to go get one for me when I'm in the mood, he pays 50 pesos not the most flattering pics but you get an idea of how calm the water is some days. Also Vicente the waiter brings me my drinks even when I'm wandering because he's amazing!

Shrimp ceviche at Nacional

Nick with the kids

Lil man who desperately wants to spearfish

A goliath grouper that came in with a group of spearfishermen that may be partially the reason he has spearfishing fever

Sick little fishing buddy

Mangrove crab, they seem to cross when we bike home at night sometimes by the hundreds, these ones will come after you

Fishing huts at Banco Chinchorro, a really amazing place off the coast of Mahahual where you can snorkel shipwrecks and see crocks plus huge Iguano/a

The kids climbing a tree at Evans

Thank you so much for the awesome trip report. Mahahual has been on our bucket list for a number of years. We had made plans to go one year finally but it was the year it was devastated by a hurricane. Your pictures are beautiful as is your family! Especially loved all your food pictures.

Yes, thank you for the awesome report! We're heading to Xcalak, Mahahual and Playa in April. It's been hard to find good trip reports from the area, so I've been making notes

Thanks I think this is our 5th year going to mahahual usually we do two 1 month trips. Every year I say I'll make a report and don't get to it. We have really explored all over but haven't run out of new stuff to do. The area just feels like home to us we love it.
