Hello to All!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to forums, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly.... here it goes.... I just joined, and am happy to be coming to Playa for the first time this November for my Celta certification to teach English. The cost of the course is pretty high, but the housing for the month is really high.

I've looked on CraigslistPlaya, and there seem to be studios for around 4 to 500 a month.

Does anyone know of any apartments/studios/rooms for myself, and my heart kittie cat for a month or longer? I would like to stay for the winter, and possibly longer if I find a good job teaching at this time of year.

Thank you so much!
Kim

I've seen studios as cheap as 1500 pesos a month (no AC, just an unfurnished stone room 20 minute walk from the center) and as high as 2000 USD. (more expensive exist! But I didn't bother looking at the beach penthouses!) Your price range seems about right for being at least a few blocks from 5th, but still in centro, with modest furnishings, bad wifi, etc... You may pay a bit more since you're looking at renting through high season.

Having an animal complicates things a bit. It's best (IMHO) to wait until you get here to find a place, since quality and location varies WIDELY here. Personally, I asked to hang out in the place for a couple hours before paying the fully amount to test the wifi, the smell, bugs, etc... I had to find a place that would accept my 10kg dog. I ended up paying an extra 1000 pesos because of that. One small hotel on Juarez said I could stay with my dog if I brought my own sheets.

Maybe you can find a cat lover on these boards who would host the cat for 2 days while you look?

Google Coco's Animal Welfare and contact them. I know that they have some volunteers who bring their pets and stay for a few weeks. They might know some places you could check out.
