Thanks for the recent trip report! I'm heading soon. Two questions for you! Where did you buy your coffee pot, I often buy one too but cannot remember where I bought it. Walmart? Price reasonable as its being left? Also, can you refresh my mind on the cost of the auto insurance, I'm old now so cannot remember what I am in for! I paid the $11 a day through Orbitz but the explanation for what is clear as mud and can't tell if the manditory is included in the rental rate or not! $ a day? Car looks fun! Thanks much! Looking forwards to your posts while I sit in the snow in Minnesota! -17 forcaste on Sunday!

Thanks Beam-eye!

One of the reason I go these places is because I can find nothing about them on the internet or at least nothing comes easy. I found reports that said there was nothing of interest in Felipe Carrillo Puerto and that for me is like waving a red flag in front of a bulls nose!

I have lots more to report, but it takes considerable time to put together and I will work at it a bit at a time and try to post more each day.

I hope to be here another month at least and I tend to go on and on. I'm glad you enjoy!

I will keep exploring.

I bought the coffee maker at Wal-Mart in PDC, I think it was 349 Pesos and will give it away when I leave.

I rented the car from American car rentals and all insurances were included. It was about 14,000 pesos for a month and isn't the cheapest car they have for sure but I don't like being cramped and wanted something that could handle rougher roads.
Silly me just realized two days ago it had a power sunroof and since then if I can stand the heat I run it with all windows down and the hatch open

Calderitas

So I usually post for awhile each night after I sort photos. I also keep a journal in which I have much more detail, pages per day. Too bad I couldn't get a job doing this. I am still in Morelos, made a new friend and had an awesome day. Tomorrow I am determined to make Oxkutzcab.

Back to the spot in my travels we were at,

After the Lighthouse museum I followed the boulevard road out to Calderitas which is called a fishing village, but has no boats I could see and no dock. So I think it is a seafood restaurant village, and there are lots of them. There are a few places to stay too and a really nice looking campground.

They line the waterfront, and servers all try to wave you in.

A bunch are co joined in the front with views out over the bay.

Others have this constructed beach held in place with giant sandbags in front.

There is one past these a bit that seemed popular, but it might be because of the Tortugas in front, I never got a chance to eat there. I took this pic earlier one day before they got going.

Thanks you guys.
I am a bit of a lurker in the forums myself but read all the reports and check in a couple of times a day so I know about needing a fix.

Calderitas 2

So when I ate there I went to the Miramar I think it was called and had prawns with garlic. There was live music under another adjoin palapa. and first I was served a seafood broth.

Then the main.

View through adjoining palapas.

And the total with a coco water was 115 pesos
