Yay! Great trip report! Looks like you had a blast. I love seeing pictures of other playa.info peeps because whenever I'm down there I'm always looking around to see if I "know" anyone. My husband thinks I'm crazy. It's like spotting a celebrity to me. Hahaha.

Wednesday, May 6

This was one of many days spent at Wah Wah's enjoying the FREE lounge chairs, affordable cervesas and food, and FREE live music of Mike Grabow. Also, the company of new friends. I love this place.

The best (well, and only) garlic fish I have ever eaten. I had this twice during the week. It was that good.

Leslie in a handmade headband that we both bought from a Mexican girl on the beach. They were so pretty.

Cold beer wrapped in a work snuggie. Life doesn't get better than this.

The sargassum was mostly washed up on the beach, making the water swimmable.

One day we had garlic fries at Wah Wah. These were so damn good.

That night was another stop at Luna Blue. A bit more reserved this evening, just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere.

Met this great couple from Ireland, Sinead and husband (of course, his name is escaping me right now).

I found the new owners and bartenders to be very nice and gracious.

So happy to encounter one of my favorite Playa residents, Frankie the Cat. Me and Frankie go way back. I once let him stay in my room overnight (2010), and he peed on my suitcase.

Now I'm getting confused on days. My Wednesday and Thursday may be confused, not sure, but it doesn't matter. I will just post some pics and captions.

One of my favorite places in Playa for a fun rowdy time is Los Tabernacas, which is a French Canadian bar that has a hockey problem. The crowd is mostly wild Montreal Canadien fans and loud and raucous. My husband and I went there when he came with me, and he got a good ribbing for being a Buffalo Sabres hockey fan. Nonetheless, the owner is so friendly and makes you feel welcome. I stopped here a couple times during the week to watch some hockey and have some food.

I think this was ham and cheese croquettes with the ham taken off. It was good.

After spending a bit of time here, I meandered along Fifth just to see who I might run into. I spotted Barb and her husband at Hotel Fiesta Siesta on Fifth. I think her name was Barb? I met them at the Peep Meet on May 5.

They were hanging out with some locals, so I joined them. Then along came Don and Dell, who also joined us.

We all loved the "Heisenberg" shirts that were seen in tourist shops that week, referring to the lead "Breaking Bad" character.

I do not plan on ever going back to this bar, as I had two beers the entire time I was there and was quite sober, and my bill was for 12 beers!! Twelve??? I was pretty irritated. After some discussion, the bill was corrected.

Next, I will post about food!! I'll just do a post on three very good dinners I had during the week.

That bar is very good at "making mistakes" on the tabs. We had about 6 beer of a brand we were not drinking added to our bill last time. Took a fair bit of talking to fix the error. Has happened more times than not. I like the vibe there for live music but the "creative accounting" is a hassle.

Great report... Thanks for posting all of the pics.

The flea market is something I have always wanted to visit. The only problem is my wife would need an extra 2 suitcases to come home.

I remember that night. funny thing was that after that hassle with the bill they tried to put it on Craig's bill. then there was another battle. After that every night we were there they gave us a break on the beer's

We usually sit at the bar at Fah and never have problems with drinks ands the bill. If we are there with a group, we usually still just run up to the bar...they don't like it, but I don't like waiting 20 minutes for the wrong drink and having to fight with them over the bill.

Food pictures!!
The first group are from El Tapas & Company, a Spanish tapas restaurant located on Calle 10 entre Avenida 15 y 20, Plaza Municipal. I really loved the food here. It was prompt, attentive service and the food was delicious. In addition to your tapas, they serve you a bowl of assorted olives. Further, after dinner, you are treated to a house shot of liquor. I'm not sure what exactly it was, but it was creamy and really good.

This was a vegetable tapas with eggplant, roasted red peppers, and onions, and cheese. It was delicious!!

Venezuelen food!!

I am a vegetarian, so all these dishes and dinners that I have eaten were meatless. Lucky for me, there is a wealth of options in Playa for meatless dishes. I will never go hungry, that's for sure.

One evening I had dinner at Kaxapa Factory, located near El Tapas, at Calle 10 Norte 15-20 Avenida. I have never had Venezuelen food before, as my city is a little sheltered. I really liked the offerings. I had a corn pancake filled with sautéed vegetables. It had a different taste than a traditional flour pancake, and was very filling. I also had their version of cheese sticks with a very unique dipping sauce. I really enjoyed the entire dinner and the service.

Yes, Doll Baby and Hawkeye... Love them!!! Also at Fah, I just started insisting on pay as I go! If you feel you have been cheated, as for Lalo... He is the manager and a friend of mine.
