Maui Christmas 2015 photos

Went to Maui with my wife and daughter between December 24th to 31, 2015. It is definitely one of the most scenic photogenic places I have ever been. I won't talk about what I did each day, just post some photos and a link to my Flickr album for anyone interested in seeing more.

Just some general observations. You really need a rental car in Maui. Public transportation is inadequate. Christmas is the busiest time of year so parking was an issue everywhere and there was the occasional traffic jam to endure. We did not do as much exploring as we would have liked due to the parking problems. This was a minor annoyance.

Lahaina is a nice enough tourist town. Shaved Ice is yummy. Restaurants are expensive so a condo with a kitchen is a nice option. There are sea turtles everywhere. Kapalua Beach park is one of many great snorkeling sites. It was nice to be awoken by cooing doves every morning. That part reminded me of Mazatlan. So much nicer than screeching grackles.

It amazes me how many people don't seem to understand the dangers of the Ocean. I saw way too many people posing for pictures on the rocks near the crashing surf with their backs turned to the Ocean. Just waiting for a rogue wave to sweep them into the water and bash them against the rocks. I saw one group of tourists laugh hysterically when a wave barely broke over the rock they were standing on and got their feet wet and then run for their lives when they noticed a much bigger wave almost on them. They made it to safety but just barely.

Anyway here are some pictures.

Looks very nice-lovely photos!

Too bad about our dollar ....I know a few people who go to either Hawaii or Vegas at least once a year who won't be going this year!
