Riu Palace Mexico vs Riu Palace Rivera Maya

Most of the treads I've searched are a couple of years old, so I am asking again - what are the differences? I know the beach, food, drinks and service will be basically the same, and they are almost the same price - the RPRM is showing just a little more, but the difference is so small ($6/day) it doesn't matter. I have read that the RPM has been renovated and is more modern and usually has less kids. Has the RPRM been renovated recently?

The main difference is the decor. The Riu Palace Mexico has been renovated and is done up a more modern style than the Riu Palace Riviera Maya - which has not been renovated. Gone from the Palace Mexico is the dark wood, heavy brocade fabrics, European influenced "old world" decor. It's been replaced by white furniture and lots of silver/chrome, pink and purple. Not that this is a bad thing, it's just different. Some like it, some don't. Palace Mexico tends to see fewer kids but that's not a set in stone rule. You just never know what kind of clientele will be there at any given time.

...shammy's correct...we stay at the riu palace mexico regularly (returning soon) and we always spend time at the riu palace riviera maya...the resorts tend to have a different feel in addition to the décor, with the riu palace Riviera maya offering a little more in the way of festive fun atmosphere, especially around the swim up bar/pool areas...we enjoy both types of atmospheres, so i'm not offering it as a criticism, just an observation...we started staying at the riu yucatan in 2001, and eventually tried the riu palace mexico with friends...we've stayed at the riu yucatan 6 times and the riu palace mexico visit in may will be our 15th stay...i'll be happy to help with other questions if I can!...

RPRM Rennovation

It's my understanding that the RPRM was renovated in 2012, can anyone verify this?

Do you still stay at the RIU Yucatan?
We are thinking about staying there in November for a couple of days.
Which building is better?

...the last we stayed there was a few years ago...but we always consider it...it is a great resort...best building?...depends on where you like to be...we take the luck of the draw and have been in different buildings, we found each to have their own charm and advantages...if you feel strongly about location, best to email the resort a couple of weeks before you arrive to let them know what you'd prefer...(level, close to reception, close to pool, quiet, etc.) so that they can best meet your wishes...they'll do their best...

Thank you for the fast reply.
I will keep this all in mind.
We have a friend that is working there and it would be nice to visit with him again.
