best included liquor/beer selections

i know the riu palace had a little of everything. not very much beer to choose from and most of the drinks were either frozen or rum-based drinks.....and those are fine, but sometimes i just want a jack-n-coke or some other "well-liquors"

please share you experiences and knowledge about liquor and beer selections?

Every hotel is going to be different in this respect, and there are A LOT of hotels in Riviera Maya. The more upscale/higher quality the hotel is, the better the liquor and beer selection will be. AM Resorts, Excellence, Palace Resorts, Playa Hotels, Karisma, Hyatt, Valentin - hotels of this quality serve premium liquors. Some lower end or middle of the road hotels might have an upgraded level of service or room category that would get you premium liquors (Barcelo is like this, unless you stay at the Palace and them you get premium liquor). Asking for a Jack and Coke would get you a Jack and Coke. Other hotels might consider Jack a premium brand and is not included in their AI plan. But as far as general well drinks, you can get those at any hotel just by asking for what you want. If JD isn't a brand they carry, ask what they do have as far as whiskey goes. You don't have to drink blended drinks or just rum, there is always a selection of liquors - vodka, whiskey, gin, etc. available. When it comes to beer, different hotels have contracts with different beer distributors. But again, the more upscale properties will offer more of a selection, including American beers, than more moderate properties.
