They are owned/managed by the same company, and guests at the Royal can use the Gran Porto but not vice versa unless you book a specific high end room category at the Gran. By the time you pay for that, you could have booked the Royal to begin with.

Totally agree. I've had excellent food at numerous AI hotels.

Everyone has their own personal opinions on food quality - from one person thinking the food at a particular AI is fantastic to the next person saying it was the worst they've ever eaten - you're never going to get a true answer that will apply to you. I deal with people staying at AI resorts every day, for 14 years, and when I get vacation reports back from clients, I sometimes wonder if those people had stayed at the same hotel I did, or the same hotel another client did who said the food was terrible, or wonderful.

In general, the better the hotel quality, the better the food tends to be.

Agreed.

Some AIs have amazing food. In fact, even the three star AIs we've stayed at have had 'decent food'- but some far better than others, of course.

And of course as Shams said- food preferences and taste is VERY subjective. Some people just don't eat out much, or they are terrible cooks- they will think three star AI food is great....I've traveled with them, lol.

Want great food, stay at one of the super nice 5 stars that is known for great food.

So true. When someone I don't know fairly well tells me a restaurant's food is bad or good, I follow up with "Where else do you eat out?"

For best food, The Royal Hideaway has been my favorite followed closely by the Royal.
