New things to do in Playa del Carmen!

Frida Kahlo, one of the most recognized artists in Mexican history, will soon be honored with a museum in Playa del Carmen. The museum will be located at the corner of Playa del Carmen’s popular Fifth Avenue and 8th Street in the heart of the Riviera Maya, which is the same location where the Frida Kahlo restaurant currently stands.

New Live Escape Game

There is a new addition to the Playa moving tourist scene - a Live Escape game called Anomalia.

Anomalia – is a quest in reality, a game where you immerse into an atmosphere of a unique adventure. The quest consists of several rooms with every detail thoroughly thought after, so the scenario becomes a reality. In order to win the game you need to find hidden clues, solve puzzles and finally discover the room’s secrets and find the way to escape.

More about the rules and how to play here

The price starts from 990 pesos for the game of 2-4 people.
Located right by Coco Bongo on the Avenida 10, above SushiKen.

Sunday Brunch at Thompsons Beach house

Jan and I were invited to try the Sunday Brunch a couple of weeks ago, Jan is my 6ft 9" son who hears brunch, lunch, buffet, all you can eat and his eyes sparkle with excitement.

They offer bottomless mimosas and Bellinies, we didn´t have those but I know some other peeps here will be so happy about that.

The food was great, the ceviche cooked with coconut milk in a green sauce was my favorite, and Jan had several helpings of roast beef, pasta, waffles, sweet bread, lemon creme brulee and other really delicious food in a very welcoming place.

Its quiet, nice music, and a very inviting pool, here is the invite

Well, there's a 20% discount for locals. There are LOTS of places around the world where you can spend USD$22 for breakfast that don't include limitless booze, or any. Try pretty much any fancy hotel in a large city. If the food is good, it could be worth it to many people for an occasional splurge.

i don't think the $22 includes the limitless booze, just the food. at least, at the sister restaurant Cinco at the top of the Thompson, they have a brunch for roughly the same price, and the limitless mimosas is an extra $25.

Just spoke to Phillipe, the restaurant Manager he said the 26 USD includes the brunch and the bottomless mimosas and bellinies, however, they are considering having it only on the high season because they haven´t had as big a turn out as expected.

Locals have 20% discount on menu items. I realize its pricey but some like to have a fancy brunch every now and then.

Xenses New park from Xcaret

Last month the Xenses Park in Mexico’s Riviera Maya opened to the public, becoming the sixth adventure park to open inside the Xcaret development grounds. Recently I wrote about how Xcaret in Cancun and the Riviera Maya were recognized as the best international theme park and the best water park, winning the 2016 Travvy Award held in New York City. This new addition is a 23-hectare property and was made possible with an investment of $25.5 million.

Thanks for the tip on the brunch, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I don't think that is a bad price at all, quite a bargain compared to my usual Sunday brunch vaca splurge when in Key West at the Westin for $45. If only the C Grill includes stone crab claws as well...... 😋

Hi Happy bubble, (love your name) make sure you e mail them for reservations before you head there because they were considering not having the Brunch until November again (high season) I just found this out while calling to make sure the mimosas and Bellinies were included in the 26 USD price =)
