First time to Mexico in 2011. Wife was scared to go.

I have been on this forum since 2010. I always enjoyed reading all the trip reports here. I finally figured out how to post pictures. So here is my first trip report to the Iberostar Beach Resort in 2011. It took me 6 month of research and convincing my Wife to go to Mexico. She was always afraid going to Mexico because of all the bad news about the Cartels . It was out of her comfort zone. Her brothers and sister and all her friends advise her not to go. I had my work cut out for me to convince her it was safe and a lot of fun. I showed her all the trip reports that i found here and she kept reading them . Yeeees Playa.info trip reports assured my wife its safe to go.
Day 1:
Flying out of Edmonton directly to Cancun Airport. It took us 70 min to clear Customs and we cleared the shark tank. My wife was sooooo scared about those timeshare people. But nobody bothered us.

We hoped on the bus and first scary part was over.

Checking in was a breeze. We got a golfcart ride to the room . Normally its a a 10 min walk from the lobby.

After we settle in it was 6:30pm already. We decided to explore the resort and go for Dinner.

So we had our first buffet in Mexico. We were all hungry . There was so much food. I was busy trying everything. My kids loved it.

We went to bed early. We were all passed out around 10pm. It was a long day

Day2

We woke up 6am in the morning. Everybody was so excited. For some reason i never brought my camera to the breakfast buffet. So no Pictures for breakfast. After that we went back to the room and went to the beach.

After 3 hours we went to the pools. The pools are massive at Iberostar. They are all connected and it takes about 30 min to walk from one end to the other end. We just relaxed in the water.

Early Afternoon we went to our room to rest up a little bit. We didnt want to overdo it on our first day. Our Youngest one found the Towel Animal. She was soooo happy.

We rested up for two hour in the AC Room and then we went to the mall Complex that is on the resort. All the food stalls and Restaurants are included in the A.I. Package.

We went to the Buffet again tonight. So i didnt take any pictures. With Iberostar you only get into 3 Special Restaurant on a 7 night stay. It was also easier to feed the kids in the buffet. The only thing i didnt like was it was super hot in the open air buffet. I would have like to eat in a AC Restaurant. But well lesson learnt for next year to do better research on Resorts with AC Buffets.

Day 3

This morning we decided to explore another part of the large pool. The water was amazing refreshing and my girls had so much fun. There was a lot of wildlife on the resort.

That what life is about. Happy time with the kids.

Some of the Wildlife on the resort.

We ate lunch at the Beach Buffet.

After Lunch it was Naptime for Vienna my 4 year old daughter. We walked back to our room. Look there is another Towel Animal.

Past Out

After her nap we went to the beach. I joined some silly games and tried my luck at Archery.

Kaitlin my oldest one was very interested in the Coaties. I told her to keep her distance. They are after all wild animals. But other kids tried to pet them.

Around 5pm we went to our room to clean up and go to our first AC Restaurant. I believed it was the Seafood Restaurant.

The Appetizer was Buffet Style. It was amazing seafood Apps.

We ordered Spagetti for Vienna

Kaitlin had Shrimp Linguine

Surf and Turf for my Wife Victoria

And that was my plate.

Amazing food and no sweating this time while eating. We just enjoyed this dinner soo much.

After dinner we joined the kids show at the main Theater.

What a day. Kids past out right away after reaching the room. So far the Vacation turned out to be fantastic. Stay tuned for day 4.

Today they cooked a big Paella at the beach. we ate some beach food. The usuall chickenwings and ribs. The Paella was fantastic.

For dinner we went to the Mexican restaurant.

At the Room Vienna was counting her treasure that she found at the beach.

Day 5

Today is our resting day from the sun. We all have sunburn. So we decided to make a trip to Playa del Carmen. My main goal was to get Alovera Cream or Gel for my sunburn at Walmart. My wife wasnt very comfortable leaving the resort. But i convinced her its a souvenir shopping trip. So we walk to the lobby and hopped on the Resort Bus that leaves every hour from the resort to Playa Del Carmen.

We paid 100 pesos for the ride . Free for the kids. The Minivan dropped us of at Fifth Ave. We walked about 15 min to Walmart. I found what i was looking for and Wife was happy she found all the souvenir at Walmart .

Yeah we found it.

After Shopping was done we walked 5th Ave. I didnt like the pushy people trying to lure you into their store.

Back at the Hotel kids found another Towel Animal.

Tonights Dinner was at the Buffet. It was Seafood Night. I think i ate like 4 pound of lobster. I was in Lobster Heaven. LOL.

Kids found the Chocolate Fountain. Boy were they happy and hyper after.

Spending some time in the lobby

Another wonderfull day ended and stay tune for day 6

3 more Mexico trip reports??? Obviously, Victoria felt completely safe and realized that the "Mexico is dangerous" hype is completely false.

Great pictures and trip report!! Looks like you had a wonderful time.

Yes i know right. Getting from Mexico scared to Mexico addicted just takes one trip. The value and the amount of fun and service we received cannot be compared. What made Victoria change her mind was how friendly and hard working the people are. The service was exceptional. My wife was worried we couldnt get milk for our 4 year old one. Since milk was only available at breakfast. I talk to one of the waiters at breakfast and it was no problem at all to get milk to our mini fridge every day. When they filled the pops and beer in the fridge they also left 1litre box of milk. : ). So far we never had a bad experience in Mexico. We do have mexican friends now who we have regular contact with.
