Interjet airlines

Has anyone here flew with them before. I always fly JetBlue or American Airlines to Mexico from us and vice Versa. Saw there is a flight that goes directly from cancun to us when checking flights. They have it vice Versa and it's a daily flight. Anyone here have experience with this airline? I checked online and there aren't that many reviews but most of the reviews were not good. The few good reviews were international flights but still were many negative ones. Almost all the bad reviews come from domestic flights inside Mexico. I heard that spirit airlines and AirTran airlines in the us are horrible so I never took those flights once. Is interjet similar to that? I also believe they started some of these international locations not that long ago but not sure.

Thanks.

Thanks.
D Man, I flew from Cancun to Mexico City and then Guadalajara to Cancun within the last two weeks on Interjet. In June, I flew Interjet from Guadalajara to Cancun. I love Interjet and have flown on their Sukhol Superjet 100 (Russian built ) and their Airbus 320's. I have flown only Priority and Optima class. They allow 110 pounds of luggage . So far, all three flights have been on time and excellent service.
Also, I have flown Spirit a handful of times although I will usually fly Jet Blue. I have had more delays on J.B. than on Spirit. I have four scheduled flights on J.B. in October and November and in January a scheduled flight on Spirit. Three of these flights are international and two are within the U.S.
Besides Interjet, I would consider VivaAerobus (young fleet including the new Airbus A320 (NEO) and Embraer ERJ 145).
Also you can consider Aeromexico.

Thanks.

I've flown on Interjet many times. (more than 5, less than 10) It's my favorite airline in the world. Their seats have 2 inches more space than average. Alcohol is free. A good amount of free checked and carry-on luggage. (at least on the routes I flew, double check).

On one occasion they lost my checked bag. The same employee I told in the airport showed up at my place in Playa after midnight that night to hand deliver it to me.

It's definitely not Spirit. (which is horse shit)

Here is Interjet's full baggage policy:

• Overweight and Oversize bags - Applicable fees per bag depending on weight and size categories
• Sports equipment – Certain items might have applicable fees
What is Interjet’s carry-on baggage policy?
Interjet allows 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger fee free. Total weight must not exceed 10 kgs/22 lbs.
• Carry-on should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions:
• 45 linear inches (22 x 14 x 9 in) or 115 centimeters (56 x 36 x 23 cm) including handles and wheels

• Fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you
• A jacket, umbrella, diaper bag, duty free items, and assistive devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, strollers, child restraint seats, etc.) do not count towards your carry-on allowance.
NOTE: Bulkhead seats do not have under seat storage, therefore, all carry-on baggage must be stowed in the overhead bin during take-off and landing.
What is Interjet’s standard checked baggage / hold luggage policy?
Interjet’s standard checked baggage / hold luggage policy details follow:
• 2 bags standard
• Maximum dimensions: 62 inches or 157 centimeters (length + width + height)
• Maximum weight: 25 kilograms or 55 pounds
Are there fees for baggage on Interjet? No. Only for excess/overweight baggage.
What is Interjet’s fee for excess/overweight baggage?
Interjet will charge US$5.00 for each kilogram/pound over the 50 kilograms / 110 pounds limit."

As far as Spirit, I have never had a problem with them on the handful of flights of have taken. My flights have been short haul though, i.e., Cancun - Fort Lauderdale and back, about an 80 minute flight. I always opt for a larger seat. I usually can get by with a carry on bag (Spirit style ) at least going to FLL. On my January Spirit flight (CUN - FLL), and booking an Exit aisle seat, my flight was still more than $50usd cheaper than Jet Blue.

A couple of interesting articles about Spirit as they are trying to shed their (former?) image:

Hey al and drew thanks for the response. Thing is I saw interjet and never heard of it and saw it had low cost compared to other airlines if you book flights late.

Drew were any of your flights international to and from the us with interjet?

They have a daily flight to and from cancun to New York so I had thought maybe for international flights they were better than domestic. But then I read reviews where there were tons of delays and other things. What's interesting is they offer free baggage which most us airlines don't offer anymore. I rarely had much delays in my flights with JetBlue etc. the flight is later on so I'm curious if anyone here flown with them to us from cancun or vice Versa recently as in the last year or so. I see you guys don't like spirit airlines which I never flew with but that was my initial thought.

Like I have said in both of my posts, I have never had a problem with Spirit but mine were usually short haul (80 minutes or so) flights. Also, if you read the articles that I reference, you will see that Spirit is, at least, trying to upgrade their image.

I've flown Spirit twice. On my first flight there was a chewing gum related incident.

My second experience, the flight got canceled. They rebooked me 2 days later, even though there were a dozen or so other airlines flying the same route. Apparently they didn't/don't have those agreements with other airlines. I had prepaid for my checked baggage as well, I asked for refund on that since I ended up missing the event I needed the bag for, and they wouldn't.

I have never flown international on Interjet. I guess finding out if they can rebook you on another airline in case of a cancellation would be something to check out if that's a concern.

Thanks for that info guys. Hmmm was hoping you had flew internationally with interjet drew since there just aren't that many reviews online. The interjet flight is a later flight so that's why I'm not sure if good idea or not.

Actually, alcohol is only served on certain Airbus A320 flights. Here is Interjet's complete snack and drink program:

I am not sure that later flights are ever as good of an idea when compared to flights earlier in the day or better yet, first thing in the morning. But a lot of times you have no choice .The airlines make the schedules, not you. Flights sometimes tend to get backed up as the day goes on.

Team Interjet

Interjet is my favourite budget airline because they still treat you like you are a little bit special for being on a plane, like the good old days, so you get free booze. I have flown them between Guatemala and Mexico, and also nabbed a really good deal in May. when they inaugurated their Mex DC to Lima route. I also like that they give you a huge luggage allowance, 50kgs, not necessary for backpackers, but for me, carrying my life around, yah, gracias IJ. However, it costs to change reservations, etc, 75 bucks, puta, but otherwise, they are great.

Again, as I said earlier, there is free alcohol ONLY on certain Airbus A320 flights.

I beg to differ, then again, I haven't flown it domestic. It's still great, the best budget out there.
