Thanks for all of the suggestions, everyone. We have been to Don Chendo and La Tarraya before. We thought both were decent, but they didn't blow our socks off.

great place for seafood and fish soup,
personally only had bits of the different fried fish and it was good but not cheap.
great prices on soups and wine, in fact least expensive in town.
you expect high class donīt go. 48 years open and running.
one of my favorite places in town,
no hustle ever.
on sundays a lot of mexican families, a little like real mexico.
( thatīs what they tell me).
itīs a place for locals, you come for a week,
you might not get into the spirit of it.
great place to get away from the regular all-american, canadian places in town
for a few hours. no music, but the musicians coming by, no tv, but one inside
showing soccer / futbol most afternoons,
you can hear the waves and the different languages you may not understand
and itīs very friendly and relaxing.
some of the boys from mimi del mar and former bad boys working there
as of late as well, plus some more next door at coco loco.
they close around 9 pm if not earlier,
go 4 to sunset to enjoy the scene.
I called it an unparalleled setting.
You were much more poetic.
I said the food was meh.
You said the fried fish was good but not cheap.
You were much more articulate.

Did I capture the essence?
