Tequila Academy in Playa Del Carmen

Has anyone tried any of their tasting classes? we will be in town Nov 15-20 and planning on trying to do a tasting. They will accommodate 2 people but like larger groups of 8 or more. Price quoted $35 each for 2. 8 or more $40 each

Honestly, I have never heard of them.
Personally, I wouldn't pay that much to taste tequila cuz I already know what tequila I like

According to their website, you sample 5 different tequilas. Whoopie!

Doesn't sound like a good value to me. To do a proper tasting, 3 of those 5 should all be from the same distillery/brand to learn & appreciate the differences between blanco, reposado and anejo. You could say 4 if you add in an extra anejo.

When I do tastings with friends at my home, 5 tequila tastings would be just warming up.

Just wanted to clarify a few things as I would not want anyone to have a bad impression on our business based on this thread.

There are different types of tequila tastings. You can taste tequila for "free" at some of the shops at 5th avenue. Or you can down lots of different tequilas like @jackjackattack did perhaps at home or different bars .

Our tastings are different and perhaps not the best fit to all. It is designed for those who want to spend a few hours having fun, doing experiments and actually learning about tequila, its history, production, how to read a tequila bottle, the different styles and classifications. For 35 dollars even a 5 course meal at a top restaurant is included, we use professional tasting glasses and taste 5 different styles of tequila, so everyone can find 1 or 2 favorites to look for.

@ScooterMN: Thanks for starting this thread! Emailed you with some further updates and new info regarding this plus we have some more references.

@Babaloo: The prices quoted were for different packages, so this is how it can be more for groups. You can always try some more tequilas even if you already have a favorite.

@Sogno: I respect that you would choose tequilas from the same brand it is also a good choice. We however would like to show a broad variety of producers/regions, not to promote just one single brand/region/style.

@absoluteAL: We hope one day we will be able to offer a Ph. D program! Who knows?
Where are these regions you use?

Not a very good variety for a tasting unless you want to taste two or three.
But they have what I like

Adam Fodor, your account accidentally got deleted by the spam trigger, sorry. I fixed it but it also nuked your posts. Luckily they've been quoted here.

My apologies!
