Cenotes

I would like to get some advice about which cenote(s) to visit. We will be in Playa over the Christmas holidays and i am having a hard time deciding which cenote to visit. We would like to do it on our own but would not mind a tour (even private) if it's worth it. Looking for something that is not too crowded but still beautiful We will have a car.Thank you for the tips in advance!!

While this post is old, the cenotes are much older, so the info is likely still useful. Have a look and post some follow-ups.

If it's just adults or older kids, El Eden/Ponderosa.
Younger kids (6 or 7 and younger), Azul.

Right Across the street from the Barcelo (which is about 20 mins toward tulum from playa) there are about 5 cenotes in a row. I like cenote Cristalino as it has a (cliff to jump off, lots of fish to see and as well a cave you can swim into) however cenote Azul is there as well as a few others. You can hit 3 or 4 different ones in a day if you go there. There are a few bigger and nicer cenotes but they a longer drive.

The cliff at El Eden is fairly high --- that's why I suggested that one for older kids.

Jardin del Eden

My favorite is Jardin del Eden, it costs about 100 pesos, but its a bit of a walk from the highway, if you are taking a colectivo go to cristalino or Azul if not this one is awesome

Enjoy
