after tuesdays cetes 28 hike to 5.56 p.c. - highest since may 2009 - the next step has been taking:

Bank raises key rate in face of peso's decline

by the way, inflation is more than 2 p.c.lower compared to above.

So by going to the article I learned that you use p.c. to mean percent.

That is good to know. I have never seen that notation before in my 65 years of life and 30 years as an investor

Maybe it is a British thing.

One thing I've noticed asking people around work/neighbours/friends/relatives, no one is going to the US for vacation this winter. Ok, there is one, but she owns a condo in Florida so not going is an expensive option. I suspect many seniors who drive and spend a month or 2 or 3 will continue to do so but that's not my usual crowd.

The usual week-or-two-a-year Florida, Arizona, California, Hawaii crowd are going elsewhere. Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic are the destinations of choice this winter in my unscientific survey.

This is partly due to the lower Canadian $ although there's also fear crossing into the US is going to get more complicated soon. That would kill US border areas relying on Canadian business (I'm looking at you Buffalo NY ).

From my conversations with snowbirds many have chosen to stay cold due to low Cdn dollar against USD and fear of the unknown with Trump as pack leader.
