For movies it works great.
For live streaming of TV it's hit or miss.

Not sure what you mean here, unless you mean free. Remember the internet was built up by free thinking anarchist network people. It takes money to build, expand, upgrade the infrastructure - if the govt gets too involved they will over-regulate it. Over regulation stymies free thinking, innovation, and increases costs.

Only live tv is giving me problems at times.
Like the NFL or live network feeds.
I will try that add-on.

Kodi is software, Roku is hardware. If you get a Roku or Nexus media player you can download Kodi on it and stream with that and you also have a remote control without having to tie up a computer. I'm checking into Kodi but I have so much now with Sling TV I am pretty well set.

With Kodi you get any tv show or movie you can name, plus any music, live tv ect ect.
My friend has Roku, and I get much more with my Kodi set up,but it has to be the right set up.If you just use Kodi as is,you won't get much. And again,it's free.

Kodi and Roku are apples and oranges. What do you use to stream Kodi to your TV, your computer? Roku just takes the place of the computer and gives you a remote control. It has a few free apps, like CBS News, but most of them are paid subscription services.

Is it all legal or are you streaming some things illegally?

Well...yeah, but Kodi alone is basically worthless.
Now - the streaming of copyrighted material is illegal.
