2. While it is the case that a child may assume the nationality of an embassy in which it is born, since that is considered foreign soil, I would doubt there would be any embassies in Boston in which this could occur, since that city would not have been a national capital at that time. 3. Can't agree with you on this one, chum. The question says "discovered" not "named", so in my opinion, the answer is correct. All valid points though, Jesus. I'm glad sombody is actually putting some thought into these things, and not just flipping to the answers. ![]() |

Interesting points you raise, Jesus.
On the consulate question, my understanding is that while embassies are considered foreign soil, consulates do not have that status. We have several in my home town, and they indicate they are not. As far as Everest goes, could the locals be said to have "discovered" the pile of rock in question? After all, if I walk out in my back yard, can I be said to have "discovered" it, and thereby give it any name I choose? To the visiting English though, it really would have been a discovery. "I say, Stanley, old bean...look at this bloody great mountain I've found. Have to drop a note to the Times, you know." Like I said, Jesus, interesting points, but in the long run, it really doesn't matter all that much. Appreciate the thought you've obviously given the exercise though. ![]() |
