México, 24 Sep (Notimex).- La senadora del Partido Verde Ecologista de México (PVEM), Verónica Velasco Rodríguez, denunció que diversas especies de flora y fauna consideradas en peligro de extinción se ven amenazadas, debido a la construcción de un muelle en playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

En un comunicado, la también presidenta de la Comisión de Medio Ambiente del Senado de la República señaló que la empresa y operadora Servicios Náuticos pretende emplear el muelle para embarcaciones de mediano calado.

Afirmó que existen denuncias de que el permiso para esa obra se otorgó a través del tráfico de influencias y expuso que este proyecto siempre representó una seria amenaza para las diferentes especies de tortugas marinas por la destrucción y deterioro de su hábitat.

Recordó que el ordenamiento territorial prohíbe las obras en las zonas de dunas costeras y comunidades coralinas, y aunque la zona por si misma reviste una importancia ecológica por ser uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes del país, la unidad ecológica donde se pretende construir el proyecto lo es aún más.

Ello, indicó, debido al tipo y características de la flora y fauna, tanto migratoria como nativa, que existen en la zona.

Luego de un recorrido por la zona en compañía de representantes de pequeños hoteleros, comuneros, restauranteros, grupos ecologistas y legisladores locales, Velasco Rodríguez cuestionó la calidad de la construcción del muelle, ya que con el paso del huracán "Iván" se registraron varios derrumbes.

"No es posible que el muelle sufriera tales consecuencias si se supone que es una construcción nueva", la cual tiene un avance de 90 por ciento.

Asimismo, apuntó, "existen evidencias de que se incurrió en serias irregularidades a la legislación ambiental vigente y al ordenamiento territorial".

La legisladora pevemista aseveró que resulta necesario ordenar la suspensión del proyecto en tanto se hace una investigación conforme a derecho de los hechos y circunstancias en que se otorgaron los permisos.
