They are not as regressive as they would be without those exemptions, but they are still regressive unless everything needed by the lower and middle income levels is exempt

The list of nonemergency items is considerable: $25 million to improve weather forecasting and hurricane intensity predictions; $118 million for Amtrak’s Northeast corridor, with only $32 million for storm-related repairs; $16 billion in development funds for any community declared a disaster zone from 2011 to 2013; and $2 billion for highway spending nationwide.

The Amtrak money was mostly for repair of Sandy damage, I heard reported.

I believe it. Just saying that Donald is wasting millions of our money weekly to put in his own pocket.

What was the price tag on the bill?
51 billion?
And how much went to pork?
Cruz and TMC and perhaps you call it "pork laden".

I actually called it "pork rinds with puree of chicharon" but why quibble. As the numbers from the article in the NYTs said,
Quote:

The $16 billion for development fund for ANY community delcared a disaster zone was especially offensive as it was just a bank to withdraw from for whatever pet project. To say it was not full of pork is just silly. Every bill in Congress has pork. This one was just more offensive becuase it was trying to get money that members could not get by other means by piggy-backing on the misery of those suffering.

How long do you reckon until we get tax reform/cut language that can be scored?

It was not full of pork.
There was some pork.
It was not pork laden.
It was not two thirds pork as Lying Ted said it was.
You are defending that silly man?

Are you seriously that bad at math? I mean $32 million of $51 billion to repairs from the storm. Let's be generous and say $1 billion for other storm related stuff. How much pork?

You apparently at the one inisting on lying when even the liberal NY Times states "The list of nonemergency items is considerable.." Translated, that means pork and lots of it. One thing I am sure of. Texans will whine a whole lot less than some other states when it comes to getting federal disaster relief. They seem to get it done one way or the other.

32 million out of 51 billion for storm related stuff?
Source please.
It was not all emergency relief.
It was Sandy related funding.
I do have a source but I'd love to see yours.
Oh...not lots of pork.

And you keep mentioning emergency funding.
This was not an emergency funding bill.
It was a disaster relief bill.

Help me out. I wasn't living in Texas when Katrina hit. Did Texas provide shelter, relief after? I know I've met people who moved here from NO after that disaster.
