Holbox

For those who have stayed in Holbox before can you recommend your favorite hotel? or condo you have stayed at.

We have only stayed at one: Mawimbi.

There are others that are less expensive. Mawimbi is on the beach and has a nice restaurant and bar and uncrowded beach loungers, etc...

We like and will be back this month and then again in December.

We just wanted a clean average priced place for a night and stayed at Casa Barbara. It was about 90.00 CDN. Clean, pool, wifi, coffee and pasteries in the morning or you can order breakfast.
It worked for us.
Walked past Mawimbi.....looked nice.

Mawimbi is our only choice now.
We stayed at another place. ..Las Palapas I think. Not again.
Mawimbi is expensive, but the only place for us.

Yep, but as I said to Kathy - I do not think we will run out of money two weeks before our death because we stayed at Mawimbi.

I would stay at Mawimbi, but I just can't book that far out cause they have been booked the 3 times I tried at 6 months out. We stayed at Dreams twice and it was fine(we don't spend much time in our room and have location add), but I paid 50$ a night and when I looked for our next trip it was 3x that price.

Rick and I stayed last time at Palapa because Mawimbi was booked. And then we ended up spending every afternoon at Mawimbi, and paying for loungers. So from now on, it's only Mawimbi for us. It's a small, very special place. I would consider Casa Las Tortugas as a runner up. It's right next door, and has a pool.

Hi my wife and I booked from Hotels.com website at Hotel Casa Takywara in Holbox , we were there for 1 night on Valentine,s day in 2012, we loved the fact that it was a bit outside the center if town, we paid something like 125 US , the room was pretty, the bed was amazing, it was on the 2nd floor we didnt opt for the "penthouse" since we were there only to ... sleep . Anyway the best experience we had was that when we went for our afternoon shower before going for supper downtown, the sun was coming down... we went for our shower and when we went outside... there was absolutely no lights from the path outside our small complex from the beach road to main town, we were like 2 blind persons walking without canes, we laughs so much... it was the longest 5-7 minutes walk of our lives... but wow... hell of a good time... also on our way back... since there is no lights almost around the island... you should have seen how much the sky is illuminated... WE SAW THE MILKY WAY.... serious !!! U-N-B-E-L-I-E-V-A-B-L-E !!! Just for that... the trip was worth it. We're planning to go there next year and spend a little more time

A standard room is $110 to $140, depending on the season.

I was reading up on Mawimbi and Casa Las Tortugas. Both get very good reviews. The one thing I noticed with some reviews of CLT was that there were complaints of noise due to a nearby club which plays their music until 2 am. Anyone have experience with this noise at either place when they stayed there?

No noise at Mawimbi. A complaint like that surprises me, as it's hard to even find a place open past 10 pm on the island.
