Motor Heads Thread

Figured if Computer Geeks can have a thread, why not a busted knuckle thread?

Anyway, I think this is an awesome add to anyone's auto project.

Go to O'Reilly Auto Parts web page and enter 121G in the search function!

If I can't find the leak in my Cobra transmission, I think I'll replace it with this part.

Back to the Future!!! hehehe

My husband just sold his 2005 Mustang down here in Florida. I thought he was going to cry....even up to the moment when we delivered it to the guy who bought it (some over-70 guy who could barely drive a stick, so my husband INSISTED we drive it to him, 45 minutes away....) - even THEN he was wiping the dust off it, shining it up, telling the guy every detail of everything about the car, all the nutty stuff he's done to it. Motorhead.

Then yesterday he told me he ordered a new Z06 convertible. Am I surprised? Not in the least...... I knew it was coming....he's calling it the retirement car, but he hasn't retired yet!! GAAAAAHHHHHH

Perfect Christmas gift for him...have it sent to Hennessey Performance for their upgrade! Nothing says I love you more than 148MPH from a roll on start...in the 1/4 mile!

Hennessey Performance | Making Fast Cars Faster Since 1991

I wish I could do things like this. Can't in California, unless the modification has been approved by CARB. If it were a 1975 or earlier car then it does not go through smog inspection, however even those are not to be tampered with.

I won't complain too much. I grew up in California and it was an ugly place smog wise until the government cracked down and cars got cleaner, mostly by forcing better mileage cars in the 1980s which forced the manufacturers to make them more efficient and cleaner.

Wow- I'd be all over that, but with a British car that damn plutonium will end up all over my garage floor

Q: Why didn't the British ever become big producers of televisions?
A: They couldn't figure out how to make them leak oil!

Stunning new Mustang, but I hate to break it to you, there is no such thing as an over 70s guy who does not know how to drive a stick.....unless of course Alzheimer's has reared it's ugly head.
Your husband most likely just wanted to take one last road trip in the old mustang.
Isn't a Z06 a Corvette?

This car belongs to a good friend of mine, can you guess what it is and what is under the hood?

Yep, a Corvette it is. He's had 3, previously....he went and drove the new one and loved it.

He's not really stuck on a brand, he's just a car guy. He had this Mustang, he also has a 2014 retro-style Camaro, ragtop, and his current "speed" vehicle is my favorite - a leased Cadillac CTSV. The Caddy rides like a luxury car, but is a ROCKET ship. So....the Mustang is sold and the Caddy gets turned in, and a Corvette appears. *sigh*....

OH, I love these guess what it is challenges!

My initial thought is a Nash. But, as for what's under the hood...stock or modded?

You're mostly right, the exterior is a 1953 Nash Rambler Custom station wagon, but the interior, sub-platform and all running gear are from a turbocharged Mini Cooper. They basically removed the body from a Rambler and a Mini Cooper and welded the Rambler body onto the Mini Cooper platform. When you open the door you cannot tell it is not a production automobile, it just looks like a brand new car, no seams or hacked up pieces just a beautiful little car.

It turns out the Rambler and Mini Cooper have nearly the same wheelbase and width so the swap was somewhat of a natural. I didn't ask how much it cost!!!
