Calling 800/866 numbers in the US from Playa

Hello to those of you with an IZZI or Telmex land line.

Both companies offer free land line calls to the US (and most of the world actually). One thing I've noticed though, is that I cannot call toll free numbers. I just get the "servicio no disponible" message or something like that.

Usually I've just worked around it by Googling or asking for a local number, but I've had a couple cases where the toll free number is all I can find.

I have the same problem on my Tel Cel phone which has unlimited calling to the US.

Is there a tip or trick to make these calls?

Dial 880 if your toll-free number begins with 800. Dial 881 for an 888 number. Dial 882 for an 877 number and dial 883 for all 866 numbers. These codes only apply to calls from Mexico.

NOT free calls even with a long distance plan to the US.

I am able to call toll free numbers in the U.S. but only with my magicjack phone.

It can be a bit laborious. Easiest for me is to call my sister(s) in the US free on whats app, ask them to call the 800 number to get a direct number, then report back. Haven't tried calling a US business non-800 number yet, but don't see (yet) why it wouldn't work if they're on whats app.

So I dialed this and I get the warning message about the being non-toll free. So you're saying on my next month Tel-Mex bill I'll have an extra line item for this call? Guess I'll find out soon enough. Thanks, this would work in a pinch, but not when I am put on hold for half an hour.

I had a Magic Jack back in 2010. The latency and general quality was horrible. Has it improved in past 7 years?

Yes, I use it all of the time to call friends in the States and Canada. Also, I do use it to call 800/toll free numbers in the U.S./Canada. There is a new magicjack jack. I had the original (mJ) jack and bought the new one a year or so ago. Not perfect but much improved over the original unit.

You can call US toll-free number with neither charges nor Skype credit.

Skype is available via their website, Google Playstore, etc...

This is how I do it, and I usually do it from my iMac.

Skype is also available for iPhones and iPads.

Hey drewjones, did you get an additional charge for those toll free calls via your landline to the us toll free number? And if so how much was it?

So basically calling 800 and 866 toll free numbers isn't toll free but does anyone know much it cost? Does anyone know how much it cost per minute when calling from a telcel cell phone to a us toll free number? Drewjones, how do you have unlimited free calling on your telcel to the us? do you have a monthly plan or something? And if so how much is it?

Also to those of you with izzi internet... i know you get unlimited free calls to the us and canada. I also believe you get unlimited calls to europe as well. Is that true? What countries is not unlimited free calling with your izzi landline? So basically you could even call anywhere in the world for free with the izzi landline?
