I'm sure they do pay for the privilege of pick-up/drop-off there. Just sayin' the shuttle is not free, technically. But their peso rate is consistently the lowest of the agencies we use - ISIS, Avant, and GoCarrito.
However Edgar at ISIS actually offered a price for both our upcoming June trip and Sept trip that is very close to America's peso rate for the same vehicle - and ISIS meets us at the terminal. I know you're picking up in Playa, but that is a great offe from ISIS.

You can pose the unpaved road question to America, Edgar confirmed it's not an issue with the beach and cenote roads, I'm sure as long as we drive accordingly

And it really doesn't matter what specific taxes or fee we're paying for anyway, the bottom line is the total price.

If I remember, on Avant's site or maybe in their quote they state there is no airport tax. But they were meeting us in the parking area where they had to pay to park and not entering the terminal pick-up area. So in essence they were paying for that, but since their price is so much higher than America's they're really not. And their website still states they deliver and pick-up at the airport even they no longer do...

crmoores,

Thanks! I appreciate your update. We too use ISIS as our 1st choice mainly because of how quick it is to get from exiting the terminal to going southbound on 307. Edgar is super to deal with too.

We've always compared ISIS vs Avant quotes to make sure our quote is in the ballpark, but if Avant can't come close ISIS on the time to going southbound on 307 test, we'll just go with ISIS and forget the rest.

The one and only time we used America they failed the " going southbound on 307" test - approximately 2 hours.
