Recommendations for housing resources?

I plan to rent before buying, so I'd appreciate any recommendation for reliable realtors or other resources for rental housing (prefer casa not condo) in PDC or CZM.

We used Luis from Playa Rentals to find our house. His email is He speaks English and helped us with our contract with the owner of the house we ended up renting. Very responsive, especially if you have whatsapp (his whatsapp is +5219841708533). Best of luck!

I think many hours of research are in order. There are a number of threads and posts on this forum about property management companies, and then there are the stanby's VRBO, Airbnb, Trip Advisor, and all of their associated companies.

Before you worry about buying though, I think you need to learn the difference between PDC and Cozumel, and a lot more about each. The two are geographically close, the same language is spoken, and a few other similarities, but the lifestyle experience is dramatically different.

The fact that you're lumping them together, again, indicates that lots of research would be beneficial.

Realtors and rental agents are fine. But by far, the best way to find the best price, (if that's a concern) is come to Playa, find the area you want to live, then walk around and 1) look for "for rent" sings and call (Whatsapp) direct 2) talk to people in the neighborhood

1 example, there was an ad for a condo in Playacar that was posted by a rental agent. The lowest price he could go was 16,500 for a specific until. I went to that condo complex and asked the maintenance guy if he knew of any units to rent, and he passed along a couple of numbers. A until with the EXACT same floor plan, (and better location in the complex IMO) and similar furnishings from what I could tell was available for 12,000.

I could give you a lot more examples of this and explain why I think this happens, but I leave it at that for now.

It's never a bad idea to avail yourself of the help of a local realtor or other real estate professional when starting your search, and you don't have to make any commitment to take advantage of their services. Jason Waller and Judi Shaw are both great to work with, we used Top Mexico and Margarita Ochoa was our realtor.
