Safe ATMs Near Mega or Walmart?

Recently there was a person who had their ATM card hacked at Mega ATM. Does anyone know of any known safe ATMs that I could use today in the area walking distance of Mega or Walmart? One without excessive fees and where I could pull out $300 worth of pesos?

There used to be a Scotia Bank (I think that was it) at the corner of Avenida 10 and Constituyentes that I have used off and on for years without a problem. We are in Playa once or twice a year.

hi,,,,might want to stay with bank atms, its common for the atms to give 5-6000 pesos, but first check your account and make sure your daily withdraw amount is set for that high, we use scotiabank without problems, but always check the machine first for attachments, and cover the keypad

There is an ATM exactly on the north & east (beach side) corner of the Playa Municipal Palace that I have been using without problem for almost two years.

Map: HSBC ATM Map

It is HSBC. I don't know about their non-HSBC customer fees, but I'm guessing they are fair.

In addition, there is NEVER a line there like at so many of the crap Mexican banks.

Oh, and I almost forgot: 7000 MXN is the most I have been able to take out with an HSBC card.

Hope this helps!

I use HSBC and Banamex ATMs in Merida and have for 3.5 years without a problem. I have also used ScotiaBank ones. There is a new one I am using at the Costco here. Reasonable fees and no problems. I do not remember the name of it for sure, it may be BBVA

Just use an ATM located within a bank,
during banking hours,
viewable to bank employees or the bank guard,
during daytime.

agree with above re: Scotiabank Const.y Avenida 10 - I thought I wrote that but obviously didn't.

Anyway, there are 9 banks within 2-3 blocks of Mega...
4 on Avenida 30 between Const.y calle 8) and
5 banks over around Const. y Avenida 10

+1 HSBC Rarely any lines, it is inside and has security cameras. I have been able to w/d as much as $9800 pesos at a time. Fees are reasonable, too - especially if you have a card from a company that refunds fees
