I am much more concerned about how the unqualified leaders of both countries handle this. Some on the right were pounding their chest a couple of weeks ago, as if Korea had backed down because of Trump's over the top rhetoric. Looks like somebody told Trump to tone down that rhetoric.

I am worried, as well, but we had better prepare ourselves for the worst. While I think Trump has a big mouth, he is nowhere near the danger that Kim is. I am hoping China just moves in and takes control. They are best placed to do so and that move eliminates China's fear of losiing their buffer zone. They could turn NK into a bigger version of Hong Kong.

I agree that Trump is not as off the charts as Kim is, and hopefully Trump wii listen to those that are qualified to figure out a strategy to deal with Kim, if there actually is one.

I hope rational people can de-escalate a dangerous situation.

Just saw a series of photos of North Korea's hydrogen bomb it looks like it's shaped into a big butt plug. That's why you can see Kim Jun Un caressing it so much.

Horizon, I'd be very interested in getting your assessment of this description of North Korea's air force. Thanks!

A 2015 Pentagon report stated that ‘the North Korean Air Force (NKAF), a fleet of more than 1,300 aircraft that are primarily legacy Soviet models, and is primarily responsible for defending North Korean air space.’ They have only a handful of modern aircraft—the most capable of which are Pyongyang’s fleet of 35 or so Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrums. Other relatively modern planes in Pyongyang’s inventory include 56 MiG-23 Floggers and 34 Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot close air support aircraft. Mig-23 soviet jet fighter plane, USSR, 1986. The Pentagon report continued: ‘The NKAF’s most capable combat aircraft are its MiG-29s, procured from the Soviet Union in the late 1980s, its MiG-23, and its SU-25 ground-attack aircraft. ‘However, the majority of its aircraft are less capable MiG-15s, MiG-17s, MiG-19s (F-6), and MiG-21s.’

There is little to no threat of air supremacy for our fighters. What would concern me the most is the Floggers and Frogfoots. Mainly because of the ground attack threat. They can be in Seoul in no time. Couple that with the massive amount of artillery already aimed at Seoul and that city becomes rubble very quickly.
Any attack would be short lived due to attrition. But, just because of sheer numbers, the opening salvos could be devastating.

I should also caveat my early statement with the fact that although they have the numbers you quoted, in all likelihood, a much smaller number are actually flyable. Still, if sortied correctly, they could cause a lot of damage.
