Hey guys thanks for the response. When you say the package was mailed at pakmail, you mean you had someone from the us ship the package via fedex to the pakmail address here in playa?

Do you have the DHL playa del carmen address? I will have my friend in the us either ship the amazon package to me either UPS or DHL and just want to make sure i get it right.

Thanks.

Also another thing. I believe when my friend goes to either UPS or DHL to ship the package, he has to declare the total value in the package right? Or does he not have to do that? Also this might be a stupid question but does anyone know if customs open up packages etc? Like did anyone here ever notice a package was opened and then reopened etc?

Basically the only thing that cost anything are my contact lenses. Everything other item in the package like creams and vitamins are basically 10 dollars or less for each item etc.

Hey all. Going to order my package this week and will have my friend ship it next week when he gets it from amazon. So far i asked him to tell me where his closest UPS or DHL is.

So everyone here pretty much is saying use UPS over DHL right? And thus avoid fedex/usps?

I will be letting my friend know exactly what to do when he gets to UPS or DHL so there won't be any issues etc. I know that he will have to get a tracking number so i could track that when the package is here etc and signature confirmation so is there anything else i need to tell him when he goes to either UPS or DHL to do this? Thus the address i give him is the UPS or DHL post office here in playa del carmen, its obvious that the package will stay there for a few days for pickup right? Do i need to have a friend print the shipping label or he can get it there? And where do i get the address?

Also i need to tell him the amount of money that needs to be declared in customs for the package? The only expensive thing is my contact lenses which isn't that much, everything else is like 10 dollars an item so the value of the items is only a few hundred.

Also when would i know how much in customs fees i will have to pay? Would i know it when i get to UPS? Im assuming its not going to be much because my items are basically face cream and vitamins? I don't have any electronics etc. Only thing that is remotely close would be an iphone case from amazon.

Would appreciate if someone who had a package shipped to playa del carmen say this year tell me how did they do it. Because I don't want the package being in the middle of no where.

Thanks all.

Hey all got another question to ask and sorry for writing a lot here. But is there any issues with shipping vitamins, face products, contact lenses to mexico? I just googled this and read cases where people said customs might reject certain items like vitamins if it has certain ingredients and even contact lenses. So im wondering if this is even a good idea now since the last thing i want would be my package in customs and then they would send it back or my package would not arrive.

My friend is helping me pick up my contact lenses tomorrow in the us and i was planning to order my items on the weekend via amazon prime and it would be shipped to his place tuesday/wednesday and then he would send the package the next day or so via UPS or DHL to the playa del carmen UPS or DHL place here. But now i just read about people shipping vitamins and similar things and some people never receiving their package etc. Can someone who has experience in this tell me if i should have any issues with it? All the items im ordering i cannot get here so thats why. Its vitamins, face creams, wetone wipes from amazon and contact lenses.

And is there anyone that will be coming here anytime soon? If so, it would be great if anyone can help me mule down these items. Will pay you for your troubles. I would ship the package to you via amazon prime and have my friend ship you my contact lenses.

But if someone here can confirm that there would be no issue with my friend shipping the package with vitamins, some creams etc, then i will just do it that way.

Thanks all.

Hey all. I contacted a specific UPS store back in the US and the guy told me i could have my friend ship the items but they would look over each item and then tell him which item would be fine to ship due to customs etc. But they said of course certain items could get refused at the border. He told me contact lenses should be no issue. He also told me make sure no product has the word Made in China on it otherwise it would not ship. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I told them im certain none of the products has that. He said make sure the box doesnt have any of those words as well.

I then called UPS customer service on the phone on this issue. They told me similar things except they said i cannot ship vitamins without my friend going to the mexican embassy in the state and get a federal commissions for the protection against sanitary risk permit. Has anyone heard of anything like this? They told me without this, vitamins cannot be shipped.

I then called the DHL US customer service on this since people here say go with UPS or DHL. They told me that my friend could not send contact lenses unless he has the paperwork for it from some department and that i needed to get it here in mexico. Said i need to get some permit in order for the contact lenses to get shipped. Also mentioned that i have to pay like 87.5% of the value of the contact lenses or something like that.

I then asked them about okay what about the face products and vitamins. They told me i needed to have a health or sanitary purpose permit in order to have these items shipped. Basically the same thing mentioned with the UPS customer rep over the phone. The difference was that they said facial products need it as well. The UPS customer service phone rep said that was cosmetics... so it didn't require that. However, i think the face product im buying would be considered a drug than a cosmetic because it treats the skin. So basically DHL said all the items i mentioned will require documents etc.

Because if that is the case, what in the world is anyone shipping here via DHL or UPS then? You need a document just to send in contact lenses, vitamins and over the counter cream?

Because if its like this, it seems like the only thing people can ship via DHL or UPS easily then is like a document or debit/credit card etc? The thing that confuses me is why would DHL mention all these restrictions whereas UPS seems to be less strict? I believe someone here has to make a mistake with the contact lenses right? How could DHL tell me you need the documentation before you could ship contacts but UPS say contact lenses are fine, it will just get inspected and thats all. I had no clue shipping to Mexico is this complicated.
