Mule from US

Hey all. Is there anyone that will be coming from the US to playa anytime soon? I have to get a couple of things.

One is a face cream that is very small, its the size of a mini toothpaste like 1.3 ounces. I would like to get 2 of them. I can order it on amazon.com and have it shipped to your place. Its less than 3 ounces. Last time Mr. B from this forum was able to help me with this.

Contact Lenses. They do not have my contact lenses brand here. So I normally would get them in the US. I would have a friend in the US order it for me and ship it to your address.

Wet One Wipes. Does anyone know if you could get these here? I recalled a very long time ago I seen these wipes at walmart. But it must have been a one time thing. I have never seen this wipes at walmart, mega or any other place anymore. I seen a brand called walfort that are similar but i need to get wet one wipes the red color ones. These can be bought at amazon.com. I also know they have these at rite aid in the us.

They look like this

https://www.amazon.com/Wet-Ones-Anti...words=wet+ones

Also i would like to get 1/2 small bottles of vitamins. They don't have these vitamins here. Basically everything is on amazon.com.

Also has anyone here had a friend from the US ship them a package of items from the US to the UPS here in playa del carmen? Then you go and pick the package yourself? How long would that take and how much would that cost?

Thanks!

Hi still here yes drewjones.

Has anyone here had someone from the US ship them a package here via UPS to the UPS office here? Im guessing this is my best solution since it seems like no one here is coming to playa since its low season.

And if so, does anyone know how long this would take? Im assuming shipping is going to be really expensive but does anyone have experience in how long it would take? Thanks.

I shipped a box to the FedEx office. It was about 20 pounds. I think it was 3 days. I don't remember the exact cost, but I think it was somewhere between $50 and $100 USD. I believe I bought my label online, and sent it via PDF to someone in the US who printed it and dropped off the box for me. It was more than a year ago, so maybe I'm misremembering.

Hey drewjones. Thanks for the response.

You mean you had someone from the US ship you a package about 20 pounds from the US to the fedex office here in playa del carmen. Is that right? I'm a bit confused with your wording here. And then when you tracked your package online and it showed that it arrived in the fedex here in playa del carmen, you then went there and picked it up yourself? I assume the printed label online was the fedex office in playa del carmen right?

And if its 3 days, thats very fast. I thought it would take a much longer time etc. The thing is i assume the thing you shipped was not electronics right? I'm going to have just 2 small creams, basically the size of 2 mini toothpaste, contact lenses, some of those wet one wipes and a few small vitamins only. It probably would weigh like 5lbs at the most if i had to guess. So if i do this via fedex, i have to go to that fedex office here to make sure i get the correct fedex office address here? Thanks drewjones.

The minimum cost is pretty high. I don't think there was a huge cost between a 5 and 20 pound box. Beware of dimensional pricing though. If you use a big box, your 5 pound shipment gets rated at 40 pounds.

Now that I think of it, I did use the address where I was staying. However, knowing that there was no chance in hell they'd be able to find me, I went to the office in advance and just asked them to hold it. And yes, I did follow the tracking online, so it was pretty easy to time it. You can ask them if you can just use their address directly, I guess you can. If you catch them at a slow time, it's usually 2 or 3 employees just hanging out, so ask away.

I don't know if your cream will be an issue. If it's medicated, then that means it's likely a controlled substance, and I don't know how the US and Mexico will treat it.

DHL is good as well.

My husband just left for Colorado and is coming back on Saturday, July 22nd. You can contact me and we can arrange for you to ship amazon before he returns on Saturday.

okay so alicia hasn't been online it seemed.

i know someone here who has had an item shipped here via ups from the us. He got a tracking number and picked it up at the ups store without any issue. Can anyone here confirm UPS is good with this? But others here say DHL is better for this?

Whats the difference between ups, dhl, fedex and something called pakmail? Its going to be contact lenses, 2 small creams, wet one wipes and 1 or 2 very small vitamin bottles. I would like to pick the package myself at the office. There is no way i want the package sent to my apartment since well theres no mail box here etc.

Hey all. I will be ordering items on amazon.com and will be having it shipped to a friend of mine in the us via amazon prime to his address.

So the best option would be have my friend send the package to me via UPS to the UPS here in playa del carmen right? Thus make sure i have the correct UPS address here in playa del carmen when giving my friend the address? Do i need to get the printed label or i could just give my friend the UPS address and he brings that to the UPS store and they take care of that? Is there anything else i need to make sure of besides that? I believe make sure my friend gets a tracking number so thats how i would track my package once he sends it out? Also since the address is going to be the UPS post office... that means they will leave the package there for at least a few days right? Thus once i track the package is there, i can go and get it myself? Can someone who has used UPS recently tell me how long it took for their package to arrive? I also believe i read that they keep the package there for up to 5 days? I will obviously go and pick it up the same or next day etc once i know the package is there.

Also how would i know much in custom fees i would have to pay? Would i know this via email/tracking or when i actually go to the UPS office and pick up the package? The items are contact lenses, wet one wipes... 2 very small face creams... 2-3 small vitamin bottles... 2 other small creams... and an iphone case... like those 10 dollar cases via amazon. So basically when my friend receives the package via amazon at his house... he going to just open it up and then put my contact lenses in the box and then bring it to UPS to ship it etc. Im guessing it won't be much since i do not have any electronics at all? Those creams are basically like 10 dollars each via amazon. I believe i read custom fees usually are a lot for electronics etc. Is that correct?

I also read someone mentioned in an old thread that PakMail is good as well. Whats the difference between sending it to UPS or Pakmail? And I believe AbsoluteAl mentioned do not use fedex at all because they have issues with this? So either use UPS or DHL and have it shipped to the UPS or DHL office here in playa del carmen is the best option and avoid USPS or fedex alltogether right?

Thanks all.

I have no idea what the answers to your questions are, except for this one:

Check Amazon Mexico to see if they sell the things you want. Amazon negotiated a much better Fedex rate than you as an individual can get.

If you do end up sending it to the Fedex office here, the address is:

Fedex
Servicio occure "hal"
Esquina Av. 20 con Calle 12
Playa del Carmen, QR

'Servicio occure' is the equivalent of "will call" - the word "hal" after it means "hold (for pickup)" - as in "halt", which is German for "hold", but is probably the Spanish phonetic approximation for the English word "hold" (on stop signs it comes out as "alto"). Same difference.

I mentioned that I had a theft problem with FedEx (the package was mailed at Pak Mail). The theft occurred in FedEx/Cancun. I said that, I personally ,would never use FedEx again. I now prefer using DHL if I need an international carrier service.
