Charlotte, NC (my hometown) has seen a large spike in murders this year.
I still love that city but it can still bother me.
And I am with Babaloo except I am betting that my hometown(s) are a lot lot worse than Charlotte as far as crime and murders, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.. I think that both cities in recent years had been "voted" The Murder Capital of the U.S.

And I just returned from a walk down AV. 5 and was not even solicited once for drugs. But a few "happy endings" were offered up by the massage girls!

Not sure if it is good news or not (depends on if there is blowback) but the local leader of the group supposedly responsible for the BP and other recent acts of violence has been apprehended in Cancun.

In other news, Nickelodeon is gonna open a hotel and theme park as part of the Karisma Group (El Dorado, Lomas Travel, etc.). Spongebob!

I read about that yesterday, I think in the Diario de Yucatán, but it could have been in a different source.

I am hopeful that it is good news.

Yes, one dealer type shot another one in the leg as part of a dispute between them, apparently.

(Might be time to merge threads when people have to post the same thing on multiple ones to keep up with the conversation.)

Apparently?
It happened an hour ago and sources are telling us the details?
But that takes the sting out of.
Nothing to see here folks....move on.

I guess we'll sing a different tune when one of those bullets meant for a bad guy hits and kills a tourist.

Don't know what all this means.

I used "apparently" only because I wasn't standing there witnessing it myself. I said quite literally and plainly what I meant to say, not more, not less. If you would want to try that, too, I may understand what you're trying to say or suggest here a bit better.

Comes up fine for me. TV interview on the spot saying that 1 person was injured, basically corroborating the above.

My guess is that the Marines will be called back if needed. Not sure today's incident warrants that but all it takes is one dumbass with a gun to make things worse in the present environment. The presence of the Marines has an immediate calming influence.

The presence of 100 additional Federales had no calming influence.
Hopefully the Marines could do a better job.

Sorry folks, say what you will, but things appear to be getting worse rapidly.
