QR is not the town of Playa.

Maybe lower than Cancun. But the spike in shootings is what is troublesome.

Not "maybe lower than Cancun", but "a fraction of Cancun". Did you see the data posted on page 2? Playa is on pace to have a rate of 24 per 100k, up from 20 in 2015, and about 22 in 2016. Cancun had a rate of 60+ per 100k last year, and I suspect the rate there is up.

20 - 22 - 24 over three years is hard to call a spike IMO. It's more of a consistent, gradual increase. It is concerning (along with the location of a few of the shootings) but I prefer accurate rather than dramatic language, but that's just me.

As reiterated by someone else it's the jump in shootings that is concerning and that latest data isn't represented in the reported data set.

The numbers are for municipalities. Playa is part of Solidaridad, which runs from just south of Puerto Morelos to just south of Puerto Aventuras and west into the jungle. If they find a body dumped in that large square area, they count it as part of the rate for Solidaridad. Just an observation.

That has nothing to do with what I wrote, I was referring to the rise in shootings in Playa which isn't included in the oft repeated data set

You mean from the jump from 1 to 3?

You are all looking at this wrong. Instead of counting UP to the number of murders...count DOWN to the number of drug dealers...

I count two less in the past week...
