mail blocked to cox dot net people
If you've got a cox dot net email address, you may want to try some alternate routes in communications with hotels or others down here. I've suddenly begun receiving warning messages to the effect that mail is blocked to these accounts, and since it's already happened 3 times this morning alone and Mexican servers seem to have a bad reputation as being spammer and are apparently arbitrarily blacklisted in many cases, I'm guessing the folks at cox have just taken a broad brush approach and blocked a whole slew of them.
The punch line is that the warning messages say Quote:
I'll try to respond in other ways to such people, but there are a lot of these addresses and a lot of email to see to and only so much time in the day. I'm sure a lot of others are in similar positions down here with respect to time and workloads, so I thought I'd try to alert people to this situation, at least. best, Steve |

Is it not reading into deeper levels? My understanding was that relays or routing or lots of other stuff I don't understand came into play in such things, and my (new) outgoing mail server is located in Belize, actually. Indeed, everything else with our new connection was working the other day except for outgoing mail, until our new provider set up an outgoing mail server. But I'm sure you know more about all this stuff than I do.
Anyway, something's evidently going on at cox, for what that may be worth to know to anyone out there. Steve Last edited by ryberg; 05-18-2004 at 12:41 PM. |

You gotta admire and respect the presence and efficiency of this site. I've already heard from one of the 3 people I was trying to contact this morning. Granted, not everybody's tuned into PlayaInfo, but a lot of 'em sure are! So kudos to James & Anna and thanks for the opportunity to use the site in that way, when necessary.

here's a cox.netter who you may have tried to reply to, Steve! Thanks for posting here! This is a great site!
I'll check my messages here if you have any time to reply to my email! Thanks again! Playa-Maya sure does have great service, I see that already ! |

For you cox.netters who may be expecting an email from Steve. (or even those who aren't) Email your provider (cox) and demand that they unblock the Playa-Maya mail service. Tell them you are trying to make reservations and they cannot reply to emails you have sent.
It usually takes 3 or more such complaints before they open it up to everyone. |
