Jan - May 2018 rental

We'll be staying in Playa area starting middle of January to middle of May 2018. What sites or recommendations does everyone have for finding a place to stay?

Need at least one bedroom apartment/house. Trying not to rent a car for the entire time so close to beach/town preferred.

Thanks!

NASPlaya.com is a reputable and trustworthy company. They manage our condo. And have several long term rentals.

Very true! Always get a recommendation, from someone who has been around for awhile.

Tell Carlos (rental person) that Cathy from Viento Celestial, referred you. Not that we get anything out of it, as we will be in our condo during that time.

Good luck.

I would love to be able to use the agency but can't afford anything they have listed. Will keep checking.

Everything is negotiable! I would suggest contacting them, you just never know 😉

for that period of time id suggest you come down and just book a small hotel for a week and check out the places, since your booking for so long, make sure its something your going to really like first....its no big deal for a week or 2 but 5 months is a long time in a crappy place, just my suggestion, some are noisey, some have bad neighbours, some have discos closeby, some have roosters,,,etc etc

i know all about those dam roosters....they would come out look at the street light and go off,,,then they would be quiet for like 3 minutes, come out, see the street light and off he would go again.....i think someone took him for a walk

a buddy of mine had a funny story about a street dog that would never stop barking, he took him for a run in the bicycle way down to like 106,,,expecting to never hear from him again, next day the dog was back....

NAS (as are most units run by professional property managers) is very expensive. However, if having someone to call locally, who has staff that can fix issues same or next day is what you get for that extra money. When I lived in a condo in Playacar, the units ran by the professional property managers in my complex rented for almost double the private rental units.

If you want the best price, then Rob's suggestion is a great way to go. However with a private owner with no property manager, you don't know what you're going to get. The gas or A/C goes down in the middle of the night, and your landlord may not have money to fix it, or they may be on vacation etc... If Internet/electric etc.... goes down, you may have to be the one to make the calls if you want it fixed promptly.

What's your budget?

Everything is negociable

Don't rule out using the professional management agencies. We used an agency and were able to negotiate the price to 75% of their original asking price, We ended up with a reasonably priced rental in a new building on one of the prettiest streets in Playa between 5th and the beach.

As I mentioned before.😉 I know we would certainly negotiate to have a good rental. And, if you deal directly with the owner, the price would be even better, and you would still have the management company for support.

Personally, I could not just show up for several months without already having a rental secured
