Trip Report 7-12 May

Customs: On Arrival, green light! only plane there-10 minutes tops to get to the van.
On departure: (remember original delicate custom's issue on wife's toy) We were prepared to be embarassed, at least I was since wife made me put her gigantic d@!*o in my bag. Customs gal asked which bags were carry-on, which to be checked. Then proceeded to vigorously inspect the carry-on. Waved the checked bags through w/o inspection! So the item in question was never uncovered....also brought some cohibas back. Took the bands off of them, but u.s. customs waved us through as well.

First time in mexico....
Day 1 Friday-noon arrival, apple from stl. no problems. greeted and shuttled to riu palace, there by 1:30 or so. Donned our suits and hit the pool. Cruised the beach some walked south past the resorts to a sign marked 'nude beach'; alas - no nudes but the beach was awesome and uncrowded at this spot.
The requisite number of topless gals were out on the beach. some very few were world class, but most should never have let the 'boys' see daylight, if ya know what I mean. somebody needs to clue the europeans in on the speedos also; wow! not pretty.
Mainly relaxed the rest of the day and got hammered at the pool. Weather was terrific.
Day 2-Sat -much of the same. woke up - Ate-drank-Ate-drank-Ate Dinner-drank till hammered, went to room, used contraband item from above- think we both passed out but not sure. fortunately i remember the sex.
Day 3 Sun - not a good day. Montezuma's revenge struck in the morning. No idea why or how. we both ate the same stuff, drank bottled H2O. I must have ate a turd some where along the way.
Spent the morning and afternoon at the pool, relatively miserable - with frequent trips to the throne. Took great quantities of Immodium AD. About 3:30am the next morning, after erupting from both ends all day and with nothing left to erupt, I got some sleep and woke up fine. Go figger.
Day 4 Mon rained like a cow pissing on a flat rock much of the morning (perhaps the mayan gods tribute to my conquest of the diarhea) and early afternoon so we took a cab to Playa. Much of 5th street is tore up, working on new paving. Lots of muck;little productivity; lots of hand tools. it must take forever to get a construction project completed there. Toured souvenir shops and tested my new found health with lots of beer (what the hell, right!). bought some t-shirts, ate some lunch and got back to the hotel for dinner. then just drank some more (see a pattern here?)
Day 5 Tue cab from hotel to playa (40p) and collectivo from playa to xelha (60p for both). driver was cool, took us all the way in to entrance. xelha is cool, beautiful and very clean. weather was perfect, chilled out all day swimming, tubing, eating. not near as many fish (numbers/variety) as maui, but cool none the less. about 5pm we walked to Hwy307 and a collectivo was sitting there waiting. took us back to playa. see last sentence of day 4 for the remaining evenings activities, less any adult entertainment.
Day 6 last day. bummer. headed to the airport at 1030 or so for a 1pm flight out. wanted to buy some don julian reposada but didn't, now i regret it. what a dumb ass.
over all - great time. people were very very friendly. never had any real language issues. riu palace is awesome. spotless, great food (w/exception of day 3), staff unbelievable.

glad you guys had a great time...we were in playa while you were...I think I saw you getting a beer in one of the bars!! that was you wasnt it???...not sure now that I think about it but you looked like the guy with the big di#@# in his luggage!!!haha...
for real though glad yall had fun...did you snorkel at XEL-HA?? the big fish are by the walking bridge....

That was me! we did snorkel near the bridge, which was awesome...huge fish.

Biker great trip report laughed my butt off. Except for Day 3 been there done that sucks being sick on vacation. Day 4 rain also sucks but I guess the Gods need to refill the swiming holes sometimes but why during our vaction? Also my very warped mind was wondering about the sex toy and the end of day two did you get to perticapte or only watch. No need to answer its all good

. Your TR helped get me pumped for our vacation at the RIU we leave the 23rd did not know about the nude beach. Will have to check that out will send you pics if we happen to see any good sites. Glad you had a good trip.

Walk down past all the resorts to the south, near where some rocks jut out, you can't miss it. To the right in the bushes is the sign. I fyou haven't been to the Palace, definitely get up early enough to sign up for Sir Edwards for dinner.

As soon as I get a little time I'll post some pics

Couldn't have said it better myself, WAITING on the pics....Tres Equis, eh? That's alot to ask!

We stayed at the Palace too....LOVED it...

So you found my sign, huh? South of the resorts on the beach....Can't believe it was still there...Didn't get very many to go for the au naturel aspect of that particular portion of the beach though, darn!...Much like the tip-toeing I go for at all the AI's I stay in when I put all those "Caution - WET floor" signs I leave on dry marble....
