Mercado Libre

Hey all. Im curious has anyone here used this site before? I saw a product that i wanted to get available from a seller. They charge a lot more than it would cost getting it in the us but thats not a big deal since i have to get this cream.

I read that mercado libre is like the ebay of south america? Has anyone here have experience with this site? I remembered when i posted recommendation for a rice cooker and someone mentioned loqsea where they do costco runs every week etc and it was great.

So wondering if anyone has experience on this. It seems like you could buy the item and you could pay them at OXXO and then they ship it to you. Does anyone have expeirence with mercado libre? The item seems to be located in Monterrey. But im surprised they have that item.

It is like the eBay of South America considering eBay was the largest shareholder at a 20% stake.
Use them.
We've used them They are well established.

Babaloo thanks for that information. How do you pay them? I see in the page when i translate it to english via spanish to english, they accept debit/credit card, cash deposit to santander or another bank. They also accept cash deposit at oxxo. I would rather do cash deposit at oxxo since i have paid an electric bill this way as all i needed to get is i believe an account number.

Also how do you receive your item most importantly? Do they ship it to your place or you give them an address where you pick it up? And what address would you give them... im guessing like pakmail or something like that? In the page, it mentions when i translate it..

Free by means of shipments with express shipments via dhl. Insured shipment.

Thats pretty nice. So that means im guessing i could pick it up myself at the actual DHL office when it arrives? Thus give them the DHL post office address? Im also guessing i could receive it pretty quickly since it say express shipment which seems great.

Because if so, this site seems to be very nice.

Babaloo or anyone else that used mercado libre, has anyone here had a package sent to the DHL office here where they hold it and you pick it up?

This is the address i checked on google.

Calle 12 Norte número 172, Centro, 77710 Solidaridad, Q.R.

I found this address when googling other threads here.

DHL, Av 12 Norte, Locale 172, entre Calle 15 y 20, Colonia Central, Codigo Postal 77710, Playa del Carmen, QR, MX.

Then when i purchase the item on mercado libre, i give them the DHL office address to send the package to... and mention its the DHL office here in playa del carmen and also have them put a note that says for DHL to hold my item to pickup? The shipper can do this right? Can someone tell me if this would be the process?

I would be using google translate to translate my reply and answers to the seller on mercado libre etc. Thus like when he says send payment to this bank account number at OXXO, i could translate it via google translate.

This is for a face cream that is being shipped from Monterrey, Nuevo León it seems.

When i google the product on amazon.mx, it is there. However, there are no sellers at all. It says

No disponible por el momento. No sabemos si este producto volverá a estar disponible, ni cuándo.

So I was very surprised mercado libre even had this product. And when i did the google translation, it mentions they ship it via DHL express so i figure i would receive it pretty quickly so thats why i why i asked about this site.

Babaloo, thanks. Im going to do the OXXO deposit since that would be easiest way for me. I guess im going to receive the email instructions of what bank account to deposit into.

I have to use the DHL office address then and pick it up myself then since i have no mailbox here.

When i click on buy it shows me to fill out the address. Is this the correct way of filling the address out for the DHL office?

Codigo postal: 77710

Calle: Calle 12 Norte

Numero exterior: 172

numero interior (opcional): LEAVING THIS BLANK

Enter calles (opcional): LEAVING THIS BLANK

Referencias: DHL

Colonia: Centro, Playa Del Carmen, QR

Nombre de contacto: My name

Telefon: My Telcel Number

Or should i put DHL in the calle line before the calle 12 norte? And if i put the DHL address, then it would be there for pickup and be there for a few days right? Thanks babaloo.

The general advice is to stay away from using debit or credit cards - the Oxxo system of depositing directly to the seller's company account (i.e., the company's card) works like a charm and is risk-free (assuming, of course, that the company is legit and you and Oxxo put in the right number. It's like buying Telcel credit at the supermarket counter, except it's the mini-market counter). It's how i pay my rent - my landlady lives in Merida, so I just go to Oxxo, hand them the cash and the account number, and double-check everything on the screen before they press the 'send' button. Now that Circle-K is in town you might be able to do that directly to/from the USA, although that's likely a forlorn hope.

DHL is the shipper of choice for most of the world outside the US. It's the yellow building on the SE corner of Calle 12 and Av. 20, across from the ADO station. You can ship there and pick it up - it's like "General Delivery" at the US Post Office, or the "Will Call" window of a business (they still have either of those in the US?). The phrase to use on your DHL order is "Servicio Ocurre", meaning roughly "we'll serve you when you/it get here" - or something. Suerte.

Hey all got the address.

One last question. I went to OXXO and went there and gave them the 16 digit code that i received after clicking the buy it now to pay the item.

When i gave them the code, by showing it to them on my phone, they were confused what it was. Last time i paid an electric bill this way and it was no issue. He then asked me if it was for mercado libre and i said yes... but i don't think that is the right way of payment as he clicked on that on the computer etc. So when he entered that 16 digit code after clicking on the mercado libre option,,, it did not go through. What am i suppose to mention it is for then? I had thought when you give them a 16 digit code, isn't that for a bank account?

Paga $ 571.00 en la tienda OXXO más cercana
Díctale este código al cajero y listo.

Is the message i receive on my computer after i clicked purchase on the item and then put the address down on mercado libre website.

Am i suppose to just say payment to this account number xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx ?

That's their bank account 'card number'. You are making a deposit to their account to pay for your goods - assuming there's something in that code telling them it's from you to them under your order number for the stuff you bought - but it looks like only the 16-digit account number for their card....

Yes thats what i figure. But when i show OXXO the 16 digit number, shouldn't they know what it is for?

Because last time when i paid an electric bill, i believe i just gave them a 16 digit account number and they know what i meant by it... I believe last time i might have mentioned payment to this bank account.

Yes so if its a 16 digit bank card, what am i suppose to say payment is for? Because they did not seem to know what it is for... they went to click on mercado libre on the computer and then entered that code but got error... but i figure that couldn't be the right way.

Do i just say payment to this bank card? I of course will translate it.

Thanks.

On the payment/receipt page on mercado libre it says

Paga $ XXX en la tienda OXXO más cercana
Díctale este código al cajero y listo.

Which Translates To

Pay $ at the nearest OXXO store
Say this code to the cashier and that's it.

So when i showed them the 16 digit code... and then under it said how much pesos... i assumed they knew it was payment to bank card or bank account?

Went to another oxxo. I showed them the copy of the page from my computer

Paga $ 571.00 en la tienda OXXO más cercana
Díctale este código al cajero y listo.

They asked me if it was for mercado libre and then went and clicked on mercado libre like the other oxxo. They said it worked. They typed in the account number. After i gave them the money, the guy looked at the receipt and spoke with the other guy there. Then they said it did not go through and then paid me back the money etc.

I noticed that when you make payment, there is all sorts of options like telcel, electric bill and many other options that they can click on etc. So which one are they suppose to click on here?

In the payment page on mercado libre, it translate to just give them this code and nothing else. But when i showed the page to the guy at oxxo, he ask me if it was for mercado libre then clicks on that etc...

Went back to Oxxo.

Showed them this

Numbero de targets de cuenta

xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx

The person there seemed to just click on deposit so i thought it was going to go through. After the number was typed... its shows not valid...

So how am i suppose to even pay for this item? There doesn't even seem to be a way to contact the seller on mercado libre as you cannot even click on the contact information.
