No, the monuments should not be removed but in some cases they should probably be moved. It is a state and local issue. None of the fed's business and none of yours, either, if you are not a resident of the state where the monument happens to be.

And any of you assholes who think that by living in another countr, I or anyone else loses their rights and foregoes their responsibilities as Americans can GFYselves. You are ignorant beyond help.
I agree with a lot of PDS2's post quoted above.

Most of these are being taken down by local or state governments, so in that respect, I have no problem with it. If the constituency doesn't like it, they should vote them out.

If we are just talking how I feel about it? I think some should be taken down. Nathaniel Bedford Forrest was a terrible human being, who led the slaughter of innocents in the war and after(not to mention being in the business of slave trading.) Sure he led the South to victories in the war, but he was not a man to be celebrated.

I also think you can remember these events without having statues. I went to many civil war sites as a child and the statues were never anything I remembered.

Maybe they can target museums/schools next. Let's destroy everything.

Gonna have to change a lot of city names, too. As well as counties, military bases, state and federal parks. The list is very, very long.

As I stated previously, it will not stop with Civil War monuments. Did it stop with the Confederate flag? Washington and Jefferson were both Southerners and both slave owners. So your beautiful and iconic Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial in our capitol? Those suckers will eventually have to come down as well.
