Playadelsoldos.....

Is pink eye a big problem in your area? I saw 60% of kids were out of school on Isla Mujeres with conjuctivitis.

Me: Not in Wilmington, in Playa
Good grief, all this discussion on a one sentence post.

First, yes, my post was misread. I never said a tourist was the target, I said the opposite. Of course it's the frequency and all the locations along 5th that prompted my post.

I'm just saying that as a long time vacationer to Playa, this (and other things like the malls, the development, the sargassum, etc) have caused us to look elsewhere to vacation. It makes me sad.

Oh, yes, not sure if they themselves felt superior as people, but certainly a number of folks around here have expressed the notion that Playa is superior to Cancun, when the topic comes up. No debate on that.

But then that's what I would expect on a forum about Playa, after all. And you can see the same thing on sites like TripAdvisor, for example, where there's a forum for about every particular place. And like you say, "bashing" appears to be a bit beyond that, and certainly "bashing given any opportunity" would be still further beyond.

Conjunctivitis is a growing problem in the state, at the moment, with alerts going out and pharmacies in some areas struggling to get eye drops and so forth.

The superior attitude is more reserved for the 'only TOURISTS stay at all inclusives; REAL TRAVELERS stay at non AIs.' crowd.

Sometimes they toss in the term 'fancy prison' to be good and sure their point that people who stay at non AIs are far smarter and better gets across.

I did say "nice prison" when referring to our stay in Punta Cana. Personally, I used to prefer AI's but later in life we chose to stay at non AI properties. The food and drink was typically much better.

Just our experience.

I expect the pink epidemic to settle down this week, as most are done with their cycle and the kids are out of school for three days. I have one son that has been diagnosed with it but you could fool me. Barely pink and we are treating it with some holistic spray (went hippie by necessity) that seems to work. I did score some meds yesterday but am keeping them
aside in case someone else in the family gets a worse case.

Have always used just VRBO but thinking of adding AirBnb. Wife was complaining about lack of inquires. I said da ya think it's because we have all of October & November booked. Early December is open, traditionally that's been hard to get. Maybe to close to Christmas. Need first week in January & then we are booked till the last week of March.

This renter much prefers VRBO. If I strike out with them, I go to Trip Advisor/Home Away, and lastly Airbnb.
