They are too busy helping each other to point fingers and most of the rest of the country is taking notes.
And that is freaking bullshit and an example of continuing Clinton Derangement Syndrome.

I guess since you are not in Texas you feel free to engage in unwarranted politicization of volunteer efforts.

Everyone loves Texas ! Except for a unemployed college professor - Karma indeed.

It would be nice if more rich politicians gave a mil.
Wonder what the "Clinton Foundation" will chip in ?

Texas should be very proud - I have been thru many Hurricanes in my life - this is the worst one, no doubt.

It is nice to see the positive images coming out - the media has no choice but to cover it.

I am not sure what that means? You don't think they cherish those positive images? They do.

This story should be about people helping people. It is not just a Texas or American thing. It is what people all over the world do in a time of crisis.

I do - gives me a good feeling for our country.

disagree - Media tends to focus on the worst - makes better news to show the worst and take shots at our President. (look at all the bs about Melania's heels and saying the President was not emotional)

I couldn't care less about Melanie's shoes, but in general President Trump comes across as a cold uncaring individual. He might not be, but it is hard to tell.

We will disagree on the media, a positive story is valuable to the media, just as a negative one is. The ratings are probably off the charts as we watch people helping people.

I do remember coverage saying he did not mention the victims who died, the police officer who died and that he did not show much empathy toward the victims of the flood in his remarks. He did mention the size of the crowd though. I expect Our President to correct that on his next visit.

That may or may not be all 100% accurate, working from memory and after a night out with the dubs. I think it is pretty close though.

I do remember the bs about what shoes Melania chose to wear. Not worthy of coverage, in my view. Folks saw what she wore, let them make their own decisions about that.

You were the first to bring up Melanie's shoes.

YEP - but I am not the national media....and I was not saying it in a mean way. I think she always looks great - very classy. Big difference. I WISH I could still wear heels like that.(chemo fall out). Even in her tennis shoes she looked great.

FWIIW - I think giving a mill means more than kissing babies and hugging old ladies.

If you don't hug the victims then you don't care. It is the equivalent of a politician not wearing a flap lapel pin. Who cares if Trump emotes enough as long as the feds are keeping up with the locals and helping out where needed? He was not elected to be the heart of America. Sometimes the best thing the Feds can do is sit in the back seat and let the locals take the lead.

I agree. Of course no matter what the POTUS and the FLOTUS do, the media criticizes them.

The President can show compassion and make sure Texas gets the resources it needs. Very simple.

The First Lady is a pretty woman and she is married to a billionaire. It would be hard to not look good.

Of course he can. But you want to define what kind of compassion he gives. A million dollars out of his own bank account does a whole lot more good than a photo op just trying to look like something he isn't. Having resources in place before the storm ready to go as soon as it left is more important than an "I love y'all." Some of you guys wouldn't be happy even if you were allowed to script his words yourselves.
