I am hearing from friends and co-workers that there are a lot of collapsed buildings. Watching these videos, you can see why.

A massive earthquake just hit Mexico City – these terrifying videos show the chaos that followed – BGR

Very scary - I always think when the next "big one" will be.

Hope everyone has found out that family and friends are safe.

They are safe in a pueblo outside of Puebla. Felt it, but no damage in the pueblo.

From what I can tell, the death toll is at 223. (?)

They were very lucky it wasn't much higher.

The photos are heartbreaking but also heartwarming.

It is going to go up a lot, I am afraid. While the world is focused on CDMX, the areas around it are the ones that really took the biggest damage. There are some towns and villages that are gone. Morelos, for example, has entire neighborhoods destroyed. I am still amazed at how quickly Mexicans get to it when it comes to natural disasters.

Damn. I was hoping that was not the case.

It's sometimes tough to know whether or not the trust the media not to exaggerate. Although in general I tend to think that reports of media exaggerating things are greatly exaggerated.
