We have not stayed there, however, we have friends, who are really CPFV (a search on the forum should explain this designation), that own a condo there. We've been in their condo and one of the penthouse units as well. You won't be disappointed. Any photos you've seen do not do it justice. We haven't heard from Mr CPFV in awhile though I know he's been lurking about from time to time, so perhaps if you're lucky he'll see this post and respond.

I toured Villas Sacbe last Dec. as some of the last units were being finished. It's really nice and you will be very comfortable there. The location is on a quiet street, but just around the corner from lots of action. You have Chuchis Deli for great breakfasts and a decent grocery selection for your kitchen on one side of you and La Siesta Restaurant on the other side, for good italian food and the best pizza in town IMO.

Villa Sacbe
Dear Nubbs, The place is brand new and spotless. There are two managers Hector and Noah who are on site downstairs in the office that will cater to all your needs. The units are large by Mexican standards and all different styles. The style of the building is very relaxing. It also joins with the original Sacbe with an entrance from 5th. You will love seeing the architectual wonder of Ted Rhodes. We bought the place because of it's location. You will enjoy the closeness to all the bars and restaurants. It's a one minute walk to the beach and ****** Beach Bar. I talked to two couples in April staying there and they loved it. I always tell people not to worry about where they stay in Playa their first time. You will love the energy of the town. There are many beautiful places to stay at. Villa Sacbe is just one of them.

But can you get loud and party at the Sacbe?
I'm impressed with what I see, but from pictures the units look a little close together. And do some people live there? Is the kind of place where you'll offend residents if your group is a little loud at night? And is that water oasis just for looks or is it an actual pool?

just tryin to help
hey dude no worries just tryin to help provide you with info....Had you spoken with me I could tell you scabe (sp is correct) water feature is actually 3 pools - a jacuzzi. plungepool, and wading pool. I researched that place up and down! the units do appear to close for comfort. Living in Chicago I can relate to the trials of a courtyard building. You hear everything!!!!!! They certainly look like the best accomadations around and what you get for the price is amazing! Frette sheets and towels dont matter to everyone however........

Sacbe
The units are close together. You can't party late and loud. The security person will ask you to to be considerate of your neighbors. I know of a big party that was held there in April. Young good timer's just like you wanting to have some fun. They paid off the security guard and the party turned into well a party. Other condo's complained. The people who payed for quiet relaxation won. The security guard was fired and party people were asked to behave like the quiet and relaxed Merlot people. If you like to party my advice would be to rent a Villa or just enjoy the night spots.

Sacbe: don't wanna get busted
Thank you -- that settles it. We don't want to ruin anyone else's vacation, we just want to have fun and we tend to be a loud group. Trying to look for Villas in PDC but everything so far seems to be near a golf course, not the beach. We might just get a villa south on PDC on the beach, and taxi in to party.

I think you're on to something dane. I had the same thought for my group
its certainly worth the extra cabs or short walks. You will see on the mapchick map ,playacar seems to be developed around the golf course. Mostly between the course and the ocean.Places I saw that were advertised as" on the golf course" are on the main road into plyacar, which is about the same as staying on 5th ave in PDC(in reference to beach distance). If you are in or near Phase 1 it appears to be maybe a 10 or 15 min walk -at the most- to ferry dock and begining of 5th! |
